stock! but i plan on a pertronics . would not go with a box to much to go wrong.

billet distrib with HEI.  plenty for a boat.  keep it simple.

My boat came with the HEI style MSD set up, their Ready to Run system.  Works great for the stock 454.  However, I am a big fan of the pro billet/ 6AL combo in my hot rod, but that one is supposed to be fast.  The cruiser is supposed to just work.

Boat number 1 (White Trash) MSD 6AL with a Pro Billet distributor.

Boat number 2 (White Trash II) Mercury Marine Thunderbolt V CD

Boat Number 3 (Southwind with a small Chevy) Mallory Unilite.

Boat number 4 (Godfrey Deck boat) Pertronix Marine Flame Thrower II (yet to be fired off...).

Boat number 5 (23' Crusader) Mercury Marine Thunderbolt V CD

As you can see, I'm not partial to anything, as long as it starts and runs (and does not have points) I'm good... O0

No probs running the 6al box not the marine one? I've seen plenty of boats with that red box so I assume it's plenty fine

My first boat I ran a Mallory 85 HEI and had zero problems but wouldn’t fit when I switched to a tunnel ram, so I went with a MSD with a 6a box because I already had it and have had zero problems with it. Some people have had a lot of issues with the newer MSD stuff, although my old setup is still going fine.

I'm back to running a dual point Mallory after I shorted out my Pertronix  :thumbdown:

I'll buy another pertronix to put back in the Mallory soon if I don't find a nicer looking replacement (cheap)  ;)

I'm running an MSD marine ready to run distributor and so far I love it.

I bought the Ford version of this badboy for the deck boat for cheap at a flea market (new in the box  ;) ) Looks like a very nice piece...
