engine bogs down and overheats?
« on: October 30, 2009, 07:56:15 PM »
Been awhile since I asked a question here, The last time I took my old boat out it bogged down and overheated on me. I never found out why. I sold the boat without the engine. It just bothered me that I never figured it out. Specs are: 13.1 454 decent cam, matched springs, had logs on it. had a adjustable valve but no idea what the PSI was.

When things pik back up I plan on putting this engine in my SJ if everything is not sold. I would like to figure out what to do in the mean time just for good measure.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you had debris in the jet.

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Maybe I did. I have heard that people have gotten debri in thier jet or pump while transporting. I wonder if this happened. I know that the pump was in great shape and tight, but it did have a very odd looking loader. Looked like it was home made. I ran perfect the few times I had it out last year, but the last time it ran like described above.

I didnt want to sell the boat but the guy made me an offer I couldnt refuse, so I told him about what had happened the last time out. So I kept my mill and plan on putting it in the new SJ.

Thanks
