Title: Who's running a 460 stroker and what do you think of it?
Post by: electrowoman on September 08, 2010, 09:16:58 AM
We are starting to think of this winters project and have settled on a stroker build.
What are you guys running and what do you recommend?

Gotta go 600 HP.  ::)

What cubes?
Bore
Stroke
Rod length
Pistons?  compression height??
What deck height?

5500 rpm limit, pump gas,

Some of what I have on hand is a victor, rpm air gap, and stealth intakes to pick from in the garage
850 holley
edelbrock 95 cc heads
Full MSD marine ignition
MSD roller rockers and pushrods.
stud girdle

Kit or seperates?

Already balanced or not??

I need a recipe  ;D

Thanks in advance.

Im running a 460 stroked to a 508. If you look on Speed-o-motive website they have alot of stroker kits and also a marine motor that is a stroker. Depending on what you get from them they also offer warranty on some of there stuff. I am very happy with the turn out of my set up that I got from them. Also the engine builder there is a jet boat guy, so that helped alot to me. My experience with Speed-o-motive was great and would pass it on to anyone that wants to build a stroker motor. Let me know if you need any other info. Just got done building the motor complete.

Word has it that both Brad and Marcsrollin have passed the 600 hp mark quite a while back.  But they still quake in their flip flops when the Oldsmobiles come out to play.   :o

I am running a 545 with the Blue Thunder Heads. Never been on a dyno but it spins a detailed bronze B in a fresh pump to 6500 rpm.

What mph are you at with your 545-B impeller at 6500? Just wondering as a comparison to my set up. Get my engine back this weekend, and not sure what impeller to start with.

What kits or brands should I go with?  Which one's are balanced?
In other words which one's should I avoid and which one's should I go with?

If you don't know from experiance please don't reply.   I need the advice of those
who have been there done that.

Thank you  :)

the 2 kits i was involved with were scat's, both were nice kits and ran well. had to balance both kits as well as went ahead and heat treated the cranks because they were cast. youu will still have to check the kit because they are not a ready to run deal.
