Title: Wideband sensor location

Got a Aem wideband for pretty cheap. What are your guys thoughts on bung location? Running headers dry and planning on pulling sensor after tuning

Just after the collector. On the side, not the bottom or the top.

Collector to end, try to stay in the first 1/3 of the pipe after the collector, at least 20" from the tip. Reversion will give you a low (lean) reading.

GT I have long tube Basset headers . My buddy was trying to tell me to put it in one of the primary tubes ...

Nope. For two reasons, one, the heat will be too high, that's likely a heated O2, it will cook it. Two, you will only read that one hole. You want at least a average of the whole bank. As long as it is far enough forward to not see reversion, and far enough back to see the mixture coming out of the collector, you should be good.

I would put it right where the pipe goes round (like at about 22" on your tape).

90 degrees to the pipe, straight in.

With only one sensor on which ever side you. Choose isn't that only goin to give you a reading on that side of the motor ? What about it as a whole (all 8 cylindersl

One whole bank is a pretty good indicator of fuel ratio. If the two are much different, you have bigger problems.

You are not limited to only one position.  You could install bungs in all eight primary tube as well as both collectors.  Rotate the position of the O2 sensor to check individual cylinder AFR and then to the collector for continual monitoring, occasionally alternating collectors.

Basically out of harms way and less likely to get whacked.

The instructions should state to install at a slight "upward" angle (wires up) if on a horizontal pipe, this is to prevent condensation from forming.

Never on the bottom.

Thoughts? This is the way I did my motor home and my Chevelle. Worked killer.

Non wide band are not as critical I've been told. The heated ones are a little delicate.
