My alternator has the following wires, blk for ground, orange to starter and a purple wire that is not hooked up. Can someone please tell me what to do with the purple wire. I tried hooking it up to the alternator and when I do this and shut of the ignition the motor keeps running. :banghead:

idk for sure but maybe there was a charging system on ur boat and that was hot return to charge batts just guessing

lol ok fuk just tring to help that could also go to a power outlet like cigarette plug or ac plug in
