looking for some insite on rebuilding my 455 should i have the block deck and heads have it bored over rocker arm kit little help here please on some products and specs i want to make it dependable but also pump it up some thanks woody

Im getting ready to do a rebuild on my 455 olds. Depending on what the machine shop say's its al'ready.30 over and i wanna stay right there if i can. Gonna grind the crank and add a nice cam, i might go rollers but not sure right at the moment. Thats about it. Why get crazy on building a 455 when its still a 455? Now on my 454 project im gonna go nutz or should i say bankrupt ;D good luck, i will follow this maybe i will get some ideas here too ;D
Oh ya i forgot to add , installing restricters too. Its a must.

From what I've read . 2sav is right on about the oiling mods . That is really the achillies heal of the olds . Other wise a very good motor also . I'd rebuild it as cheap as you can (do it right of course) along with the proper oiling mods and it should be very reliable for a long time . The aftermarket is not very kind to the olds as far as price goes , which is why lots of folks dont step up an olds . They are most 70's boats for a reason . Just cover all your bases .

Drill or air hammer the oil return holes in the heads bigger, much bigger. A large, 8 qt. +, oil pan you'll want as well. Can't remember the term for it... chamfer the oil passages/holes in the crank so that oil flow is not restricted whatsoever. Now it'll be golden with no worries and you can get as much power out of it as you want with proper cam, head, intake choices.
