I'm confident that Jim knows the value of what he is selling. If he's asking $3k it's probably worth $4k.
-
If your really interested call him... He's always been more than fair on quality/price.
-
Dude, he said call him...
Have you done that?
If not, STHU....

I did call and he did not know what was built on engine. I talked in person. So no good on me all I have to say. It's cool I'm looking for something for my dad. But come to the end that we are better pulling his engine and building what we know what we have and specs to where we wants. Bottom line if you are asking 3,000 for for a engine and saying it 500+ HP. Then know what you have and are talking about. Remember it's a short block guys and no info on stroke or bore. Some peeps are not stupid when it comes with engines. And can't see peeps or rookies sucker in this engine. So I'm out.

In previous posts you had not indicated you made a call to him.
I made an assumption and for that I truly apologize.
Still, you can quietly bow out, you don't need to call people out. Honestly I think that is what I had the problem with.
That's what PM's are for.
Meant no disrespect.

Did your dad say he wanted it ???, you don't know how many people call, that are interested in parts, engines, pumps, that never show or call back or hold it tell they get the money next week?????? sorry I didn't have the time to check it out yet, but I will get to it, Jim

Jim
I never said I didn't want the engine. If I don't know what the engine has or what it is well i say now No I don't want it. I'm cool and have to say I'm sorry and I never heard back from you. And you did not really know what the engine was or had from what I was asking. I was just trying to get info on a engine and it's my fault posting. GT you have a lot of info to all and i my self learn a lot reading your replys. No hard feelings to everyone I'm sorry I'm done on this topic. Sorry again on this issue

Usually, the 492 strokers are indeed 3.97" stroke and 4.44" bore as Jim seems to be getting with his measurements. This combination is typically executed by offest stroking the OEM 460 crankshaft down to a big block Mopar rod journal and using the Chrysler "LY" rods that come in the 440 Mopar big blocks. They are a very strong con rod, and the OEM 460 nodular iron crankshaft is probably the strongest cast crankshaft available for the ror 429/460 engines--in all seriousness a well prepared 3.97" stroke 460 cast crankshaft should be able to easily handle in excess of 1000 hp. Therefore, if I am correct about the engine combo then what we have here is a beautiful D9TE block that looks to be o-ringed, with offset ground crankshaft, prepped Chrysler LY rods, Arias pistons, double-roller chain, cam, oil pump, etc. We build 460 engines for a living and could not duplicate this shortblock for anywhere near that price.
So if that's what this engine is, then this is a great deal. Even if it has 2.20" chevy journals it's a great deal. Personally, I couldn't care less about the "nitty-gritty" details if its going in a lake boat--a BBF 492 stroker shortblock with all those parts and machining at Jim's asking price is nothing to sneeze at.

yes, it was put together as a blower motor, but I took off the dove heads to put on the aluminum heads, which are not on yet, I sold the swtd and didn't need the motor now, so it sits.
