Im not building a race engine and it starts making power between 2500-8000 rpm , i need to be making power at 1500-5500 so it looks like a Edelbrock air gap is in the works ;D

I'm just curious on when you plan to run 1500-2500 RPM's  I am certain that is area that my boat sees the least time.  Plane is around 3K so (for me) I go from idle to 3500-4000 until I get on plane then back off to 3K.  That is cruising speed...  If I ran at 1500-2500 I would be plowing big time and have trouble seeing over the bow.  TR is IT for bling factor (I went from an occaisonal comment with the torker and single carb set up to regular comments and attention with the TR) and works great in my jet.  Now you might save a bit of gas using that air gap which might get you and extra day on the water a year ;)

What i said was the T/R dont start to make power til it hits 2500 and the dual plane starts to make power at 1500 ???  Im not going to cruise around at 15-2500 :screwy:   Im gonna be haulin azz ;D

I run 2 Holley 600's on mine, vacuum secondaries chokes removed.  Probably not the best choice for TR carbs, but they work.  Now negatives from dual plane to TR is :
there are 2 carbs to adjust,
and seems to use a little more gas, but not much just cruising.

If both carbs are dialed in and you can afford using a bit more gas....
IMO  tunnel ram is the way to go.  I have read a lot on the internet for both sides of the TR debate, but most refer to racing conditions.  I don't race, I just want a dependable boat that can run fast and looks good sitting on the beach.  I kept my single carb intake for a while to make sure the TR was going to work for me.  It is for sale now, and I would not change back.

Then in a jet you wouldn't care if made power at those RPM's,  it goes to whatever RPM the HP and impeller cut can handle from idle in an instant.  It's not like in a car where it has to go through the power band to get to the higher RPM's.  My engine spends maybe 30 seconds a trip between those RPM ranges.  Just the fraction of a second it takes to jump from idle to 4K and the same when I let off and it falls back to idle...

All good info , you would be surprised the amount of people telling me i have to use a dual plane ???  I really like the T/R and want to use one just cause they look fukin cool............................. :D

2sav, That's because there to lazy to tune two carbs.  You can run whatever you want for an intake (dual plane, single plane, TR , whatever) as long as you size the carb(s) right it should be fine  ;) .  Like The Chaz said the HP/TQ advantage of the dual plane is below the normal operating range of a jet boat.  If I remember right it only takes around 50 hp to turn the pump at 2500 rpm (if a BB anything cant make that you have bigger problems than the intake)  :-\ .
Bottom line, use the TR if you like it just plan on spending some time getting the tune right (two sets of everything)

Stop flip flopping like a fish out of water and get your boat in the water! You can't always go by what other people say , You have to find out for yourself , everyone's opinions are diffrent.

Its a funny thing , yes opinions vary but a little so called tech support ;D by asking questions dont hurt....
I want this boat  done right so asking questions is the only way i will know what to do until i get the chance to get it wet and go from there...........

As for the T/R  429heads came by yesturday and picked it up and returned my money unlike somebody else who used to be a member here................... He has it sold to some one else...........

This is what im picking up next month if nothing else gets in the way
http://www.jegs.com/p/Edelbrock/755829/10002/-1/11937

That way everything will be new ;)  I would still like to hear other peoples input on going to the ram... Although my mind is set on what im doing...... I think the boat has come a long ways in the seven months that i have had her.. Some people might not think so but it don't matter to me what people think ;) its my boat and if i want to take another year to finish her i can......

Thanks again for EVERYONE'S input , good or bad..................

I have a t/r and I love it!! I have never had a issue with it. I took the carbs to a pro and he did all the dialing in and I have never hadf to touch them!
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics!
