Title: Buyer beware!!
Post by: H20Nut21Bahner on July 28, 2016, 10:59:57 PM
In a way, I hate to do this because I'm not the type of person to badmouth people or do bad business. I'm only posting this in hopes of saving someone else the headache. Also, I know there are some people onnthese different sites who are friends with the person, but I really don't care.
I had an 850 Speed Demon carb, JAMES BURKHART had an IMI top mount starter and was looking for a carburetor. Ended up meeting up with him at the Oak Hill offramp above Cajon Pass and trading.
Most of you don't know me, some do. The IMI starter is basically idiot proof to wire(hot lead and key). Needless to say, starter was bad, dragging real hard(not binding/grinding) and would engage intermittently. I pulled the starter back out and messaged James Saturday. He said he would either find me another starter or give me cash. That statement, and messages being ignored until yesterday(Weds) lead me to believe he new it was no good. His last message yesterday basically said give him $85 for his time, plus the cost of the carb kit. I have no issue with the cost of the kit.
I'm only posting this so no one else gets burned!
Lesson learned, don't trade electrical parts.
BUYER BEWARE!!

Buy the carb kit and then see if the starter fits up his ass.

That seems fair.

Before I got to pissed off, drop the starter by a genny shop and see what they say.

Worth a shot.

Bird in the hand as they say.

I'd rather see you spend the $85 on the starter.
