Title: Forward / reverse lever help

I have noticed that the forward/reverse lever while in the forward position moves into neutral as i hit the throttle pedal, so i have been using my leg to hold it forward lol, my question is, is it a worn out cable that's causing this,  or bad/ loose bushings? 76 eliminator bubble deck, with droop snoot and old style place diverter. Any thoughts or suggestions thanks

I added a spring at the lever where it connects to the cable. I had this exact problem. Much better.

Hope this helps. It keeps my lever forward, but still let's me go into reverse and neutral easily. It just doesn't creep out of forward like it used to.

I always change mine to the ,"Billet Aluminum Positive Locking 3-Position Shift Control " this pic is from cp performance . I like to make sure it locks into the direction I need it in.  And has a in-between area kinda like " neutral " if there was that for a jet boat. Iv seen a jet boat accidentally get slammed into reverse while underway and it buried the bow in the water. Almost sunk the boat.

I use the same one it is a 3 positioning lock. Forward, reverse and Neutral.
