help!!!!
I just bought a jet boat (about my 10th one) and now I have no oil pressure. The gauge is good and it has a msd dist and box. Where does the gauge get it's reading from? How else can I tell that the motor is getting oil pressure? Any help on this would be great.

there's no oil sending unit on the manifold.

if its a chevy there will be no oil pressure sendr in the manifold... Look on the side of the block by the oil filter. ???

That's because there is no oil in the manifold ;)
What make motor we working on here Marty? The oil sending unit looks like a small can with a wire terminal at the top of it (no matter what flavor noise maker) and will be installed on the block, I believe an Olds will have it in the fron of the engine near the water pump cover, a Big Ford will have it near the oil filter, and a Big and Small chevy will have one near the distributor.
The easieast way to check for "actual" oil pressure is go go buy an "el cheapo" mechanical gauge and install it in the 1/8" pipe hole in the oil galley, just don't leave it there permanent like...Good luck and hope it turns out to be something minor...

the motor is a indmar 454 chevy and of course the oil filter is at a location where you can hardly see it.......I don't understand why all of a sudden it stopped showing oil pressure. I changed the plugs and that was all I did.... I don't think that would cause oil pressure failure?????? Thanks for the replys and anything else please let me know...... Marty

You might have knocked the wire off the terminal.........

yous guys are Awsome!!!!! yes I disconnected the water inlet and it dropped the wire right off of the sending unit....Many thanks. The wire is real short also.... also this is one of my many jets and the first to have a inlet valve... Should I junk it???? I have never had one on before..... Thanks again... I can sleep tonight Marty
