Picked my gen 5 block up for 150 bucks complete from Ecology. The truck said 180,000 but I scored because the motor was replaced and only looked like it had 30,000 on it (bearing inspection). Just look at the rest of the vehicle. If the interior and paint was taken care of and the only reason they took it there was because of trans failure or something like that then you are in good shape. I did a Olds to Chev swap and only spent $3500. Gotta get rid of the "peanut port" heads though. I scored a set of "049" (70 chevelle ss) heads for 200 bucks. Guy was cleaning out his garage. There are deals out there.
I have an Olds 455 bored to a 461 that needs new pistons and heads...interested?
