Alright guys I told everyone I would be getting on this deal and speaking to Bob...Today I spoke with Bob...Basically he told me that if I get alot of interest and can get the rooms seriously booked up...He will put together a package and take it to his boss...He said he should be able to get us a group room rate...I think with last year he has seen that we are serious, and in the off season bring some revenue to their little marina...This is what I need from you guys ASAP...who will be attending what type of room you would like to have...I would like to approach him with this info come first of feb.
Here are the rooms and styles, with room rates as of now
Fishing Cabins, 1 Double Bed and 1 Rollaway: $51
Room with 1 Double Bed & Sleeper Sofa: $77
Room with 2 Double Beds - Desert View: $85
Room with 2 Double Beds - Lake View: $94
Kitchen Room, 1 Double Bed & Sleeper Sofa: $98
Kitchen Suite, 2 Double Beds & 1 Sleeper Sofa: $111
I know that there are 18 total rooms available, also there is an rv park if that peaks anyones interest prices are as follows
Winter (Nov - Mar): $17/night or $450/month
The people that went last year all had a blast and it seemed to peak the interest of many others so lemme know via pm or on this forum...also many of you have my cell number let me know
One more thing just testing the waters here, but was kicking the idea around of making shirts...the more ordered the better...want to make a test copy then I will order all of the shirts, and that is that...will bring them to the event so everyone can wear them...the more shirts the cheaper they will get...looks like about $15 a piece, but could get cheaper....im not trying to make money on the deal....just simply a memoir remember this is just an idea...tell me what everyone thinks, and let me know what rooms everyone wants....i dont know off hand how many rooms of each they have but i do remember there being 18 total rooms available
Thanks!
-
I would take this....
Room with 1 Double Bed & Sleeper Sofa: $77
I would also go to him with a list ASAP to get the rate and not wait until Feb.
-
right he needs a definate list and when i told him 2 weeks he was very thrilled...i half to respect everyone needs some time to consider this, because we all know how this goes
-
Did he give any hints on what the "group rate" would be?
-
it's not his call...i need to assure him (with how many rooms) before he approaches his boss with anything
-
Did he give any hints on what the "group rate" would be?
The group rates gonna be whatever we TELL him it's gonna be! (Skip negotiated that number last year). There was NO-ONE there last year but us!
(If you guys remember, we only rented 1/3 to less than 1/2 the motel portion, and I beleive Crewcheif had the only cabin. the rest were VACANT!, use that!, let alone what we all spent at the Boat Shop, the Bar, Restaurants, convenience store.................) He assured me when I called to reserve a month or so ago it would be NO PROBLEM to match what I paid last year, $54 (If I remember right) a nite for 2 beds lake view.......Terry should remember as well, he reserved before I did, I think we were the first two.
Nordie, I would also, once you approach Bob with the number we get here, is let him know, we, any of us, can open this up on the other sites and make it far more than they can handle! For now, I think it needs to be an SCJB event! Once we're all in, well then, lets open it up! >:D
Ray
On a side note, let's try and leave this on one thread. My lil brain can't keep up anymore! (yeah, that was ME that said that!)
-

Ask Crewcheif, he made the trip last year from Mentone! ;D

You're in the same neck of the woods (Drove through all that twice this weekend myself!)
Beleive me, NOT undoable, I drove 16 hours trailering a boat on 7 hours sleep in 72 hours! This is NOTHING like that!

i hate to ask and look dum but where is Temple bar?

Don't let the scale of the map fool you, it's LARGE across the lake from there! Right about where the "L" in Temple is is where I nearly sank mine with the loose hose that blew off! Right between 4 and 5 o'clock on Nordies red circle is where the beach we claimed is.
Tons of fun, no traffic, really, perfect for us lil boats!

how is the wind there?
at cottenwood cove lake mojave it blows bad i cant even launch there cause of how rough it gets.
-
Weather's gonna be what the weather's gonna be. Given how far in a canyon this place is, I dun think it'll matter much as far as the wind. This is pretty remote from Lake Mead proper, and all mountains around it and narrow. SHould sheild it pretty good even in high wind I would think!
Regardless, I'm running! Might just slow me down a bit, but who cares?
Ray
-
To put some scale to that map, its 26 miles from Temple Bar to Calville Bay...ask me how I know!
Some facts/opinion for those from out of the Vegas area:
The jet skies stick towards Boulder Beach area. They have their own "Jet Ski Beach" over there that they launch from.
Most of the Vegas folks stick to the Calville area in the main body of the lake.
Temple Bar area is "Sheltered" from the wind so it is mainly flat over there.
Theres some nice coves and beaches by Temple bar and up towards the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
During last years trip the water was cold on the "boys" but not unbearable. By noon the weather was in the low 80's
No fuel after 5pm on the water at Temple, again...ask me how I know. ;)
Other then that, good times!

I had forgotten about that :D

The nightlife is what ever we make it up to be there is nothing around....they keep the bar open as late as we want....last year we got trashed and had a killer time....i think at one point we called brad singing...not sure if the misses is going to like that idea, but come on out
-
As I remember we called B-rad several times singing "I'm On A Boat" ;D
-
that's right, and his reply was he was at kinkos straight flippen copies!
In all seriousness i need to get a list prepped for this ordeal so let's get the ball rolling eh?
also need to know if there is any interest on shirs....or do i shitcan the idea?
-

ok you got a month and a half, remember feb. is only 28 days boys and girls. i want to see a list of who is committed to going. what are we going to do all day and what beach are we going to be at. i will tell you that lake mead has loss alot of its good beaches due to water level..so i think you should all launch at colville and go to sandy beach area, my ? is why do you go all the way up to temple bar this time of the year, when there is going to be good water everywhere on the lake. ok fire away kids..
-

Sorry Ralph I been too busy playing boat, but here you go 928 767 3211
Also Thanks for posting a map Jeremy
So everyone knows after you take the turn off for temple bar the road is 27 miles of desolate road, and that part to me absolutely sucks ass, but when you pull in there you soon realize it is all worth it....i will be there friday morning till monday!
Any other questions anyone can give me a PM or a call if you have my number I will be off work all of this week! Unfortunately work is slow!
One more thing are we going to do the saturday night pot luck again? If so we should probably get a list going

That desolate road is actually very scenic towards the end...........(wait sounds very much like a another activity........)
Anyway, the trip in is worth it!
Since Chromey's comin', I'll toss the spare grille in the truck again, and yeah, we do the pot luck dealio! That was AWESOME last year!
If Crewcheif's not comin, I got dib's on Chili (No Ralphs "Emergency, someone call the CDC" stuff, but good chit!). If Keith comes, I'll come up with sumpin.

Still up in the air
Hope I can make it work, but it's not looking good. :banghead:
-
i just bolted down 4 ore locks and special ordered 4 vikings to come and row my cruiser @ temple bar........row, row, row..... should be faster then marc's boat! for sure,,,lol
-
just called templebar for fuel prices.....3.11 a gal on land and 3.70 by sea......89 octane
-
Mapquest says to avoid going over Hoover Dam??? You guys know why or if it is B.S.? Need some local knowledge. Gives an alternate route through Bullhead City and up on the AZ side. Just wondering what is best for us CA folk.
Thanks,
-
If mapquest tells you to go through vegas then back down to bullhead that's a 200 mile detour for a 45 minute delay to get over the damn....I would go over the damn! Sometimes it takes a while sometimes it doesnt
-
also being friday night going over the dam, you will be going against traffic as everyone is headed to vegas, youre headed away from vegas
so go over the damn dam
-
so go over the damn dam
Okay okay shite. LOL.
Thanks Nordie and Brad looks like the Dam it is.
How long does it take to get across that Dam thing anyway???? Haha.
-
Last year I took I40 to Kingman, then up to the Temple Bar cut off. I think it ended up being a little farther, but no bridge traffic.
-
according to google maps, its a difference of 54 miles and 1 hour and 7 minutes
-
last year on a friday mid day i got over the damn in 45 minutes! coming home on sunday mid day it took 2 hours to get over the damn! lots of people at the damn being tourists....the speed limit over the damn is 15mph, but it is a 2 lane windy tight road, and of course all the pedestrians are crossing over the road, and what not so it brings everyone to a screeching hault! i am staying till monday so i know that traffic is gonna be moving good! one thing to consider coming home on sunday cali guys is traffic is gonna blow!!!!! especially over the damn dam on a nice day....i would consider doing the 40 thing going home if it were me!
-

you got off easy Nordie, I have been stuck coming back from Arizona to Vegas for over 4 hours. Thats was on a Sunday towing a 5th Wheel. That didnt include the 20 min search of the 5th Wheel.
-
i have found if you going over in the morning or in the late afternoon or early evening, there isnt much traffic...its during the tourist hours that are crazy, kinda like the day shift hours when the tour busses and so forth are running....and like said earlier, if your going the opposite way of the traffic , your doing fine. which i am always going due to living here in shithole oh i mean vegas..
-

yes i have heard of them delays...even 2 hours suck, but 4 hours i would be going effing crazy
-

that was after 4 days in AZ, 6 Hours of driving and then having to sit there stuck in the middle of no where for 4 hours....Crazy is an understatement! :banghead:
-
last year after i blew up my cruiser it too me 4 hours to get home from templebar i left at 4pm and pulled up in the drive way at 8pm...ill most likely leave a little earlyer this time...lol...with no broken parts
