After last years success, we decided to continue to have the BlueWater Resort and Casino be the host for the SCJB Season Kick Off.
The dates for this event are March 22-24, 2013.

To book your rooms, call (888) 243-3360 and give them the group rate code SCJB or code #1721. This will get you a rate of $79 per night plus resort fee's ($5/night) and taxes (5.5%). Normally, the rooms are a bit more). The room rate code expires on March 8th, 2012 so please book your rooms promptly.
You can also book your room through their website using the following link:
The Bluewater resort has a lot to offer including a full 24/7 casino, fully stocked bars, live cover band or DJ on weekends w/ dance floor, large pool area with huge water slides, a large Arcade with miniture golf. They also have an RV park if you want to roll in with your RV. They also has a 164 slip marina and lots of parking for boat trailers. There is also a launch ramp at the casino. The launch fee's are waved as a part of this package. Please ask the front desk for details when checking in.
***NOTICE***
There is another event going on the same weekend. The AZDBA (Arizona Drag Boat Association) is hosting drag races in front of the hotel. This means that the river will be CLOSED to boat traffic between the dam and the end of the no wake zone. I am still working out details on another site for us to launch and hang out.
Besides the Bluewater, there are several other attractions along the Parker Strip for your entertainment needs.

Lets see, I have to set the intake, gell the bilge and stringers,mock up and fab engine plates, install carpet, set pump, set the engine and rig, wire the boat, install gauges, install steering, fab transom plates, install interior. thanks for the reminder, forgot to book my own room. I just did it right now :thumbup:
remember - theres another event going on the same weekend so the hotel will be packed. I have 30 rooms blocked out for us. If you dont book before March 8th, they will be gone.

Hey guys, my father in law who lives in Parker wanted to make sure you guys knew that there will be a swap meet at La Paz and the ramp will be blocked on Saturday. Launching there on Saturday will be a problem.
Anyway, the beach in front of the old Sundance is the probably the best spot for our group as the beach is the best for our boats.
Just a recommendation.

What I meant to say is that the sandbar ACROSS the river from the old Sundance is a good spot to hang out. I guess I had one too many beers :beer: on Saturday night when I sent the first post. I just got back from Parker today and noticed that they do block the ramp at La Paz during the Swap meet on Saturday mornings until about noon. I also heard they might be having some type of music festival (free) at the park but really dont know whats thats all about.
Anyway, I just thought I would mention it. Either way, i'll be there with some family, beers, and a smile ;D

There is that nice beach across from Foxes that we can hang out in!! I'm staying in my trailer at the blue water RV resort!

Heres the deal.....I have yet to figure out a place we can all crash for the day.
What is not going to work is a sand bar - its just too damn cold to wade in water.
We need 2 things - a launch ramp and a beach - preferably close to each other, and the beach is accessible via car - not everyone attending is going to have a boat.
La Paz would have been perfect, but I am now finding out about this swamp meet deal they are having. I am going to call them tomorrow anyways just to see if maybe they can accommodate us.
Another thing is ideally, we dont want to be too far from the hotel either. Buckskin is another option, but its farther up river.
Remember, we still have a month and a half to figure this out.

If i remember right theres a rd that parallels the river you can get to from the blue water rv camp i think theres a beach down there not positive tho but it would be accessible by car and if you dont want to spend mobey on the hotel you can camp on the rd for free my buddy races jetskis and thats what we did for the race out there last year

The launch sucks at buckskin
Slick, steep, and lots of currant. Just up the road is River Island State Park
Its has a very nice ramp, lagoon and a beach.
If the beach is not big enough to accommodate us, Buckskin is affiliated with river island so you can still use the beach there

As much as I would love to partake in the shenanigans, the 9 hour drive is a deal breaker for me.
That being said, I will make it out to at least one SCJB event this summer. Already planning for the Burley Regatta and wanting to squeeze in at least one more race and one event.
If we can have this much fun in a forum, I can't wait to see what can happen in person.

I just got off the phone with La Paz County Park. Yes, they will have the lagoon ramp closed down for a blues festival, but there's another ramp at the park we can use.
Its only $5 to launch and $4/person to use the park. There's amenities like bathrooms, picnic tables, etc...
Pictured below is the following:

Yellow: The ramp we can use
Blue: The beach area we can use

I am sad to find out that the fact the beach/river is closed in front of the Bluewater due to the drag races has been a deal breaker for some people to attend this trip. I understand and I apologize, I will try to make this more convenient for everyone next year.

I wont be making this one due to a dirt bike race on the same weekend. bummer. but i plan on attending a few of the scjb events this year.
i can even host some people for the AVI event at my place.
Well im headed to the river in a few hours. but unfortunatly my boat is still at placecraft waiting on the new bimini to show up. And we all know that havasu spring break aint havasu spring break unless you got a boat.
Im sure i will just roll out with one of the neighbors but its not the same.

That's kinda why I asked the question. I planned on tenting if I decided to drive out there and figured if I could bring a MoHo then they would probably let me set up a tent. Hell may even sleep in the boat, it's big enough. >:D

Buckskin mountain state park is cool for camping. Clean restrooms with showers

No, but its a little better. The parking lot has a lot of snowbirds camping out in their RV's. they all love checking out the boats and talking about them as long as we dont keep them up too late. They always keep an eye on them while we are in the hotel. That being said, try not to piss off the snowbirds, they are migrating north this time of year.

And with all the drag race boats there the same weekend, I thinks its safe to say that our floats will be pretty safe.
Paint booth wasn't available last weekend, so the trailer didn't get finished, but just fired the boat up and all is good. See you all Sat morning!

I just called the LaPaz County park again and confirmed the info below. We are golden for Saturday.
I just got off the phone with La Paz County Park. Yes, they will have the lagoon ramp closed down for a blues festival, but there's another ramp at the park we can use.
Its only $5 to launch and $4/person to use the park. There's amenities like bathrooms, picnic tables, etc...

Any constructive input is more than appreciated. I am doing my best to accommodate everyone with the conditions of this trip we were given. I am sad to find out that the fact the beach/river is closed in front of the Bluewater due to the drag races has been a deal breaker for some people to attend this trip. I understand and I apologize, I will try to make this more convenient for everyone next year.

In. Be there Friday late. Just put in a new Mallory fuel pump and my Demon 850 got delivered today. I made the mistake of thinking that the fuel inlets were going to be the same, nope. Demon changed their fuel bowl inlets to 9/16x24. If anyone has a fuel rail laying around let me know. I'd really like to get rid of the vacuum secondary junk 750 on my heap for this weekend and see what this new double pumper can do. 801-792-2192 Johnny. Thanks

If you're coming up the 91 to get to the 10 you can stop at J&M Speed Center in Riverside (two blocks from freeway), they should have everything you need to get the fuel flowing.
