Well, its that time of year again. Mike Towning Jr (rivertard's son) is turning 21 again and FarmerGord is coming down from Canadia. The dates are Aug 24-26 and the place is Big River. Room rates are $56/night at the Big River Inn. Just tell them youre with the SoCalJetBoats group. Rooms are limited, but if it sells out, there are several hotels in the parker area about 10 minutes away. As always everyone is welcome to join. Everyone have fun and BE SAFE!

Got my motor dried out and back together today....just gotta build some new seats (and plug a few holes) and we're in.

The best western in town is by far the best IMO.
Best boat parking and lodging.(as far as parker goes)
Next for me is the Motel 6 right when you pull into town.
boat parking across the street is a little unnerving but haven't heard of anything shady.

we are second on the list but last get together at br we waited till that friday to try and get a room and they had 3 room avilable but parker is just 5 min away

Usually anywhere from 7 days to 24 hours. It should say on your confirmation page.

I think everyone is launching out of the day beach next to the Inn, but it's $25.00 / day, boat and truck. :sly:

Ive been there once a couple years ago but i only had my ski at the time. we stayed at the BR rv park. is that where everybody launches ? and i know when we went the middle of the river was only about knee deep :screwy:

Horizonjet, the day use area is right next to Big River Inn where most of us will be staying.
Some will be staying in Parker at the Motel 6 etc. approx. 10 - 15 minutes away.
Couple of hang outs up river, one at a sandbar and one other at a cove near the dam by the
bridge crossing over into Parker.
Good gas and consumables ( beer ) in Parker.
Nite time entertainment within walking distance of the Inn. :beer: :beer: >:D
The Big River Inn and day beach ( launch ramp ) are just down river from Big River RV Park.
Hope that helps, check Google maps and you'll see everything except maybe the sandbar.

parking lot if you indulge too much at Dumas'. And plenty of pick up truck beds !!! ha ha...

Big River is about 10 minutes outside of Parker, but there is a dam that keeps you from going upriver from BR to the Parker strip area. So I guess it is but it isn't. Does that make sense? :sly:

Sure would be fun to see Mikey again as well as all the rest of the old crew, but life's gotten in the way in a big way. New boat, only been out once this whole year, and all I can do is watch my surveillance camera and wish I was at the River.

I think we might be out...just can't bring myself to spend $1300 on upholstery for my $2500 boat with a hurt motor that needs a new $500 prop. I think the smart choice is to wait and look for a better boat for next season rather than
piss away $2000 to make 2 more weekends this summer

In the morning before everyone launches we hang out around the Big River Park (Day passed with launch $25.00), then we spend most of the time hanging around at a cove north of the hwy 62 bridge on the Cali side.

Not a chance Gord, we had an additional room for Hallett Dave and he was able to get one
himself. So there is gonna be an open room. We just wanted to make sure an SCJB member

OK, it sounds like Driver and Jr Crew are heading out early Friday with the boat and I get to blast out in the little hot rod after work. I should be there just in time to go to Catfish/Dumas :thumbup:
Now the important part... Driver will need help backing the truck into a parking spot and launching the boat, so please keep your eyes open for them and give them the normal SCJB helping hand (Omar keep your hands off!!!).

the locals will probably kill me for posting this, but theres a 'locals only' ramp thats pretty damn public (ive never had a problem launching there).
if you head up the 95 out of parker and pass the bluewater, you will climb a little hill and at the bottom of that hill is a light which is Riverside drive. Theres a bar calls "the sand bar" on the right. Make a Left on Riverside. follow that down and you will see the ramp about 2/3 mile down on the left. theres a dirt lot across the street for parking.
-OR- you can launch over at the bluewater. They do charge to launch, but if you just launch and act like you own the place (its free for guests), they dont bother ya. :thumbup:
Dont bother trying to launch off the beach at bluewater like we have in the past. they put all these steel canopys up along the beach and now charge an entry fee to just use the beach and the canopys are extra $$. :sly:

I think I know where your talking about. Is'nt there a launch just down river from Roadrounner. I think it's a pay lot on Riverside.

Well, that was a nice practice trip. It only took 80 miles before we realized the trailer keys were in the other truck....in our driveway. We'll try again in the morning.
