Its that time...the last big bang before summer is over.
The Venue will be The Avi Resort and Casino (http://www.avicasino.com/) which is between Laughlin and Needles.
The Event will be held the weekend of October 12th, 2012

Group Rate Info:
- The rate is $50/night for standard rooms. They are upgradable to river view for an additional charge.
- You must reserve by Friday September 28th to use the group rate.
- The Group Rate Code is SCJB
- The number to call to make your reservation is 1-800-284-2946
Rules:
- No Peeing in the parking lot
- No Peeing in the parking lot

For those who dont know the reason for the very clear rules...
Back in May when we did the trip to the Avi, we were all hanging out in the parking lot and having a blast (see SCJB video).....security came by to check on us a few times....and they were very cool, they only had one request - dont pee in the parking lot.
Daniel (Willow Wog) shows up after his long trip from socal, and goes and pisses behind a car immediately upon arrival.
Being it was a casino (cameras everywhere)....security was on scene within minutes kicking us all out of the parking lot. :thumbdown:

Hey Mark, security named Daniel again at the remote drinking area ( across the street )
which was hilarious, 'cause he was standing right there with all of us.
Then the bar and crew went rogue and mobilized again, and we all know where they ended up. >:

Hopefully everyone follows the rules, I think it's bitchen partying in the parking lot. One of my favorite river memories. :thumbup:

Yeah it gets nasty at the end of summer. That's when all the grass,weeds have been growing all summer long. Check out this site for river levels. I use it all the time. Made it an app on my phone.

I just tried to book mine as well and they told me the same thing that the cut off was Sept 2nd. I didnt even create the contract until Sept 13th. :screwy:
Go ahead and book your room and PM me your confirmation number. I will email them (group sales) in the morning and straighten it all out.
Wost case scenario the rooms will be $59 a night, rather than $50, but I am sure they will fix it, they have been easy to deal with so far. :thumbup:

circletracktoyota and 80mphpls - I just got confirmation that your rooms are under the group rate now.
The Avi apologizes for the group rate confusion. The reason the confusion is they extended it out to Oct 2nd, and forgot to change the month.
If anyone else wants in on the group rate, just make a normal reservation then PM me your confirmation number and I will get it over to them :thumbup:

I'm planning on getting my boat wet for the first time Saturday at Elsinore. If all goes according to plan and I have no major problems, we'll be leaving Friday afternoon. Man, I am SO looking forward to a weekend to relax and enjoy boats instead of work on them. Keep your fingers crossed, see everyone friday night/ sat morning. Greg

I plan on going regardless how low it is. Without sounding sappy, boating on the water is just a perk on these trips to me. I love just hanging out, shooting the shit, and tossing beers back with everyone.
I know a few of you live in the area and I know Gil is out there this weekend as well. I will try to get reports of water levels over the next few days. I really hope this doesn't discourage people from going.

Local river level drops
Published: Friday, October 5, 2012 1:26 AM MDT
BOULDER CITY, Nev. — Beginning today and continuing through the month, Colorado River water releases from Davis Dam north of Bullhead City will be uncharacteristically low due to reduced water demands downstream. The Bureau of Reclamation is also reducing releases from Hoover Dam, creating flow conditions that are lower than usual for this time of year.
The reduced water releases will result in lower than normal river water levels throughout the Laughlin/Bullhead City area. While Colorado River levels in the area normally fluctuate, this reduction from Davis Dam will result in peak flows dropping from about a four-unit flow or 19,000 cubic feet per second, to no higher than a two-unit flow, or 9,200 cfs. A one-unit change in flow is equivalent to approximately two feet in the river’s depth below Davis Dam.
Boaters below Hoover and Davis dams should exercise extra caution during this period of reduced river flows as sandbars, boulders and gravel will be exposed, creating more hazardous river conditions.
The temporary reduction in water releases is necessary because of a break in the Central Arizona Project canal near Bouse, Ariz., approximately 50 miles southeast of Lake Havasu City. While this part of the canal is out of service, Colorado River water deliveries are being temporarily halted. Daily and hourly information on releases from the Bureau of Reclamation’s Colorado River dams is available on Reclamation’s web site at www.usbr.gov/lc/riverops.html (http://www.usbr.gov/lc/riverops.html).

Just got off the phone with AVI security and he stated DANGEROUSLY low.. i couldnt get a fix on how low..butttttt Dangerously sounds bad on our boats.. im gonna call on tuesday or wednesday to see if its still looking bad

Too bad we don't have a trip on havasu. Its not too far from Windsor to the river and there is the big sandbar. Water levels are never an issue there.

Took the dog swimmin yesterday, could walk half way across the river. Wanted to take the boat out today but with a prop NO WAY. Its amasing even when water is shore to shore it can only be inches deep in places. I guess we'll see some of you fools next weekend ;)

I sent an email off to the Avi this morning asking for their permission to BBQ on the beach in the cove in front of the Avi.
I basically said due to the unfortunate circumstances with the water being possibly too low to launch, this would possibly be an incentive to those who are on the fence weather or not they are going to cancel their plans this weekend due to the low later levels.
In the past, the Avi security frowned upon us BBQing in the boat parking lot in the evening. I am asking them to give us a pass this time.
I'll keep you guys in the loop. If anyone else has any other ideas, I am all ears. :thumbup:

with the reasoning of deeper water down there,then back to the Avi for evening entertainment aka party. :thumbup:

Seen the water level at BHC yesterday at 11am/noonish, and there was plenty of water, at least for my heavy azz daycruiser. water will come up a lil later at the Avi, maybe late morning, 11am-12noon or so

I got an email back from the Avi.....
The BBQ on the beach is a no-go. They cant do it because of health department issues.
BUT...they are offering putting together a BBQ dinner for us at "29 Palms"...which I think is a banquet room with water views ??? I'm not 100% sure. She is looking further into it. It would be $8/person and I have no idea whats included or being offered. I should have more details, but this is the basic info I have so far.
I know this is all super short notice, but sounds like fun.
Anyone have any imput or ideas or suggestions?

Who can afford the casinos with gas prices as out of control as they are he in SoCal? $4.79gal for Circle K regular??? WTF...This is going to start making me sound old :thumbdown: :thumbdown: :thumbdown: but you could get 110 race fuel for less than that not too many years ago. :banghead:
Now the booze on the other hand will help me calm down a little :thumbup:

You guys will be fine we were just there for 3 days and this video is from yesterday. We stayed at avi and the water is low but still do able and yes the jetboat tour from laughlin to london bridge is running.

Go across the bridge from the avi and fill up we were paying 3.89 for super from the smiths gas station.

The BBQ I had mentioned yesterday that the Avi was going to put together for us is canceled.
I cancelled the BBQ because it got too formal for our needs. They needed me to get a head count, pay in advance, deposits, etc. It was going to cost me over a grant to pull it off.
I called them and thanked them for their efforts trying to cater to us because they couldnt allow us to BBQ on our own on the beach.

Full river is 5 units. And 5 units is what it is all summer. This time of year 4 maximum is probably normal. And FYI from the time of release from the dam to the time it gets to the avi is around 4 hours. Maybe a little longer. So on Saturday 3 units is getting released at 9am so you guys down at the avi won't see it until around 1pm.

Awesome weekend with the SCJB crew... Met alot of new people :thumbup: and had tons of fun with all the gang once again. Thanks brad for getting us all together. Had so much freakin fun im going back on thursday to do some more testing and try and get my MPH up on the scorpion.. Those of you that dont know already I gps'd at 74 :screwy: and gonna try and gain a few with some minor hardware changes.. Nick im coming for you!!! hahah better put that blower on this winter!! hahaha.. :sly:
Does anyone have a HTP straight snoot I can BORROW , Im thinking about getting one but wanna make sure its what I need first..

Had a great time this weekend. I met a bunch of new peopleSam, Hallet Dave, 5Oclock..., Circletracktoyota I am sure I forgot a few. It was damn nice to meet you all and see some faces I met last year. Save for a few hiccups in my rig Friday it actually stayed together this time, wich made my weekend that much better. I didn't get many pictures this time, but the ones I did take I will be sure to post up ASAP.
