Next big SCJB event will be at Big River on Fathers Day weekend, June 13th - 15th.

Going to be another big trip, even flying my dad down from Idaho again for this weekend.

Really looking forward to attending my first SoCaljetboat meet, wife and I will leave mid day on Friday and stay with a good friend of mine that has a mobile home just on the north side of the 62 bridge. These are a pian to get I just updated mine and was cheaper for a whole new steering set up then just for the cable. Jim Brock has a most the steering set ups in stock. I can deliver to big river if need be for a fee of cold beers

That's the same as the newer teleflex stuff...call pretty sure I've got a good used 16' in the trailer at BR, as well as a few more, but call Parker auto...they stock the U-flex replacements

Edit:... Bullshit. There are 2 islands between the ramp and the cove to cool your lube, maybe have a beer or 3, so now you've got no excuses.
BTW, running crap 10W-40 in a 10qt pan with no cooler, I'd leg it out from the cove to the hotel...bit more than 7 miles I think, and it worked out fine.

Id say its about 5 miles from the ramp to the cove. Its on the left just before you get to the Dam.
Green is about where the Ramp is.....Red is the cove...

For those first timers, the easiest way to find the park/ramp where we launch from, off the 62 (rice road), turn on Rio Mesa Drive (the big river sign).....follow that road until it ends. The entry is the road down the hill straight in front of you, just right of the Big River Inn.
Launch fee's are STEEP at $25/day. I still cant seem to find who to talk to about getting us a better rate or a group rate. I did get an offer to have our whole group launch at another park for $10/day, but there's ZERO parking and no use of the beach area.
Also, the old man cowboy that runs the park is a grouch....just smile and nod. He likes to say the park closes at 7pm and any trucks inside will be locked in - I have yet to see him stand by this. We are always on the water until sunset.
We usually hang out at the beach by the ramp until the water comes up (around 10-11 am) and then head straight up to the cove. I wouldn't bother stopping at any of the sand bars as the cove fills up quick. Last year we got stuck all up in the bushes across from the beach.
As always, I need to stress that everyone need to be safe and responsible. Drunk driving, and/or unsafe driving will not be tolerated. You are all attending this event on your own will and are responsible for your own actions. Give everyone enough room, there's plenty of river out there. Have fun and be safe!

that's the deal I was talking about. Price is right, but they said no beach or parking. Would have to have everyone park out on the street. Its also hard to tell everyone to go elsewhere on short notice.

So I just to let you guys know....the folks over at the catfish cantina really strive to take care of us when we come to town....they are expecting all of us and ready....
They have a few specials going this weekend...
Friday night is all you can eat cod.
Saturday night is BBQ beef & pork ribs
Sunday morning they will be open for breakfast with a special of chili Verde omelets or burritos.
Attached is their new menu...prices are very reasonable.
