Need Opinions on 2013 Oct SCJB Trip. I am looking at having the weekend of October 4th - 6th.
Where do you guys think it should be? In the past we have done it at the Avi. What do you guys think about moving it to Parker at the Bluewater? We start the season there, why not end it there? I think its a much better place to host our events as theres much more to do when not on the water.
Of course, the Bluewater would strictly revolve around if the beach is available (no drag races scheduled at this time).

I'd like to do a lower river trip with the group, but the problem is that there are no decent big hotels or casinos for us to invade.
I'm going to vote for AVI, because I'm just about done with the Parker Strip on weekends.

Just need to call them in advance and book out what they have...lots of trailers, cabins...ect.

Take over lost lake 30 bucks a night with full hook ups or ten bucks to use the ramp all day

My birthday is on the 5th and .38 special is playing at the avi that weekend so my vote would go there. My brother with his Daytona will be with me and my pops with his Hawaiian plus I'm trying to get a friend to put his TD on the water so can I put in 4 votes for the avi? Hahaha.

Why ruin a tradition that stretch of river is much better no. Bugs warmer waters and its better for us smaller boats 👍

One more vote for the Avi, although last weekend there, the lake lice were ridiculous especially the rentals. We could have used traffic control ie. rivertards nozzle ! We'll show up for the season closer no matter where it's at.

Blue water is cool... I'm sure wherever is decided will be fun.. Just finished up my boat and have never met anyone on here and would be cool to hang with y'all .. Either way if we get enough people committed and stay at either hotel a group discount is available. I just set up a group discount at AVI 2 weeks ago and saved everyone about $50 per room .. Normally would have been about $230 for 3 days and after the discount i got all the rooms for $185 each for sat-Tuesday .. Just throwing that out there...

First or second weekend in October work for us. We leave Oct 16th for Colorado for two weeks and all of Sept is out for us also.

Brad dont get discouraged.... I agree with Justin.... Check the pioneer (we all had a great time and made memories there last time :))))). Otherwise just set the date and let everyone do their own accommodations... We all will meet up on the water at some point and at night too.

Lets try Laughlin, we can launch at the new launch ramp at the Riverside or we can launch at the Laughlin Marina. We can hang at Backbay & Lazy Harry's. we could stay at anyone of the Casinos. It would be something different.

River Palms was good too. Nice rooms, decent parking and plenty of room for the
parking lot party. >:D
No problems with anything disappearing from the boat or truck.
For those that haven't been before, Big Bend is an easy launch ramp with no current and was $15.00 per day.
In our boat, we could make it to Back Bay, Lazy Harrys and down to Avi and back on fuel but that was about it. O0
Last time there, we got Thur, Fri, Sat. nights for $138.00 total for a river view room. :thumbup:
Like Heather said, we could stay anywhere and then meet up at Big Bend. I know everyone is looking forward
to the October trip. It's the end of the season for some of us. Hey Mark does that mean you got your problem fixed ?

Yah it was a bad set of rings, it's getting put back together this weekend and will be back on the water by Labor Day. I won't have it broke in by the October trip so you can leave your pink slip at home that trip. Lol!

Gotcha Mark, Guess we'll save the racing for later. What do you and Teresa think about the River Palms and Big Bend ? It's the last hotel on the strip nearest to the launch and the price was pretty good, at least through Travelocity. It would be nice to get everything figured out early, so we can get our rooms reserved ! I think it would be better if the whole crew stayed at the same place. What's your .02 cents. Glad to hear the motor is going back together !!!

I'm looking into a few different hotels in Laughlin for group rates. I'll have something in set in stone next week so hold out on making reservations any where for now.

I agree with Danny, the River Palms boat parking is real easy, not as convenient as the AVI, nevertheless, we have been there twice and I feel good about the security. The Palms is maybe 4 miles to Big Bend State Park and launching is no drama. I don't know what the boat parking conditions are at the Pioneer.

I've already ruled out the river palms for many reasons including the long ass walk to the boat parking and the place is a ghost town. They removed the bar and casino from the bottom floor.
The pioneer is convenient because you walk out your hotel room door and you can see your boat. Also its mid strip so a walk to losers lounge is do-able. Yes the pioneer isn't nice but its comparable to big river inn. I am looking into other hotels as well but pioneer looks to be the best fit for our needs.

Only problem with river palms is it is DEAD at night. Gotta somewhere else to have fun, boat parking is nice but not sure if they will let us party up there. Pioneer was cheap, and in the middle if things, didn't have any trouble parking our boat there. Brad may even get a new set of panties this time! C'mon brad!

What about the Belle? that is where I always stay. There is tons of parking a decent casino and the brewery has pretty good food.

Tropicana express is really cool ..and nice but also a little walk to parking lot , too bad Catherine's landing is always windy cause they have a lil hotel room almost same as bigriverinn inn.. But again it's a lake,,,

I checked out the Pioneer on line and the few pics I saw it appears they have RV parking so I can live with that. The pics of the rooms look decent enough. I still feel more comfortable about launching at Big Bend State Park. Big Bend is more central to the Back Bay, Lazy Harrys and a run down to the AVI for those who have the fuel capacity. :P
I'm OK with the Pioneer. Thanks for your efforts Brad. :thumbup:

I have the group rate locked in at the pioneer, but waiting to hear back from the Avi to just double check that they cant get us in there. Once I get the word back, I will post up the info.

The below statements are concerning the weekend of Oct 11-13.
I just got off the phone with the Avi. Apparently they have someone who reserved a large block of rooms, but a large percentage of them arent even booked yet. The guy feels like some of them will be released here soon, but cant make any promises.
I have 15 rooms blocked at the Pioneer @ $49/night.....but the downside is they are all smoking rooms. Laughlin is pretty busy that weekend because they have a beer festival and a tattoo convention in town that weekend.
So its your call....stick with the Pioneer's smoking rooms, or wait it out to see where the Avi is in a few weeks with availability.
I'm almost tempted to just tell everyone to do their own thing....find your own rooms...we'll just all meet up on the water....and find a spot to party at night.

Well I talked to ma friend at the avi, and the lil family reunion that all the rooms are booked for at avi,, they have a time period before they can release them ,if there not booked like the leader man said they were!! So brad 👍if its meant to be its meant to be..Laughlin is a bad idea cause everyone in our group minus Halley Dave has headers ,If I are running dry stack ha we screwed .. And frm avi bridge up to davis dam is a noise ordinance .. U no brad u got one back bay baby .. Plus Laughlin will be a zoo wrong time for us boaters in Laughlin cause its brings a lot of wakes and dipshit jet skiers in front of Harris and lots of wakes and traffic frm riverside to harrahs.. Smoking room shouldn't be a problem... Just bring a lot of air freshner .. And those glade plugins lol... I'm sure we will all be buzzed enough to not even notice the smoke smell ..

You got some balls bud been there done that many of times half the time was just getting through the ocean up to the mouth to get to the upper sandbar when it used to be open on holiday weekends. Once I I got up there I could hug the shore and my ass off til we broke a stringer coming back wasn't a fun ride back but made it

Once I I got up there I could hug the shore and my ass off til we broke a stringer coming back wasn't a fun ride back but made it.
Jetinator, was that comment part of your original post? Broken stringer BUT MADE HUH! I love my Hallett and that is exactly why I have not boated on Havasu since the late 80s. White caps are not fun. >:D

Ok if you guys say so there is the Lucas drag boat races in havasu that same weekend and I'm sure there boats don't handle chop very well.

yeah, because they are racing on a closed course in that 'bay'....controlled environment.
I grew up going to havasu on a 16' boat when 23' was the biggest boat out there. Its just not smaller boat friendly anymore. Come up/down on the river and you will understand. Havasu is a joke compared to the water conditions on the river....unless hanging out in the stagnant channel and getting an oil ring around your belly is your thing...so be it. I get it, some people like havasu for the party environment, but it just isnt worth it to me to spot a titty or two in the nude to risk sinking my boat. :thumbup: :beer:

I've been on the river before, whole reason for getting a jet was for use on the river. Anyways if this ends up at avi ill probably make it out got my boat stored at oasis right down river rd from the avi. The past events look like there always a blast.

Havasu ha!! Cat tail cove ,sand point are ok gets u away frm the big part of lake but still crazy,over here ur close to the copper canyon and havasu springs,,other than that thumb down,,,,,,,

I took my Sanger to "the zoo" Memorial Day weekend and went to steamboat. By far the roughest water I have ever had the boat in, if it was just me in the boat I would have been fine. But I had my buddy and his wife with me, and will not willingly put my passengers in that situation again.

The date is correct, not sure on the venue, either Laughlin or Avi. I think Brad is waiting to see if some rooms get released at the Avi that somebody has blocked. I believe the consensus is the Pioneer in Laughlin, but no group code yet. I could be wrong, it's happened once before. Lol

Hey Hal, how ya doing ? I do believe its the 11th - 13th most likely in Laughlin @ the Pioneer. Nothing set in stone as far as I know but that's what we are planning on. At least we all know where everybody will be once they're on the water . Yay river time !!!

I'm there. Danny and I have NON SMOKING rooms at the Pioneer in Laughlin. If it changes to the AVI and rooms are still available I will cancel Pioneer and attempt to book the AVI.
Hell I just want another weekend on the river.
Maybe I'll attempt to try to run down some of you un-blown, non nitrous hard hitters before I put the Hallett to bed for the season. ;)
