I'm not doing anything . It's what I'm planning. It involves a complete tear down . Luckily I'm on the right path with the motor and as soon as I'm done squeezing everything out of it . It will come out .

Sorry guys, but I'll be sitting this one out. The sand that was in my motor wreaked havoc on the bearings and crank. It's off to the machine shop next week. Hopefully the crank can get by with a polish ....

As I know it He has not competed in circle racing in the last 2 years
or run Nostalgia Jet ever.
Now as for Mr. Fox from Washington, he is a current Comp Jet record holder so he is legal to run.
-
I am in the same situation you are , I can't afford it!
Don't worry about me as you have no idea what I can afford and what I can't.
-
As far as Harold Bruce Sr....hes got more experience behind the wheel then you. yeah, he might be a little rusty, but im sure he will be fine....i think i heard Jr say that he still has his APBA membership. So in that case, you sir, have no ground to speak on.
second....re-read the rules that we voted on...there isnt anything that states that a rookie CANT run compjet and HAS to run nostalgia first....yes, that rule was there, but it was removed and replaced with the rule to match inboard committee rules, which is the committie comp jet will be running under.
yes, we would perfer people to use nostalgia as a starter class, but its not a requirement based on the rules.
-
Time for banter...
Jim....is the real reason you dont want HB Sr to run compjet is because 5th place is better then 6th place? >:D

That portion was basically by-passed when Terry had his meeting with Paul Grishar, no vote just omitted. I am still on a firm stance with this as well as Ross Wallach.
Those Comp Jet racers (most of them) need seat time and I stipulated that I would run the Comp Jets on the condition we kept the Nostalgia Jets as a "stepping stone" or "feeder" class to keep new blood interested and easy for them to get involved just like Nostalgia Flat and Nostalgia Endurance which both have classes to step into (SS, PS, etc. and GN).
Hopefully the Jets will do like their Nostalgia Flat/Endurance brothers have done.
The Idea, make it simple and affordable to come and join the sport while keeping it SAFE.
Take care and I hope to see everyone at the 62nd annual Thanksgiving Regatta on November 23 & 24 at the Bluewater Resort & Casino!
Sincerely,
Ross Wallach, SCSC/RPM RACING ENT.
uswhy cant you just have fun like the rest of us
Your right I should not have any fears at all and sit back and watch you guys get killed. As that is one of the reasons of the demise of the class years ago. Yes racing is fun but remember everytime you hit that water in Comp Jet you must be willing to die for the fun you are having. Yes it does sound morbid or negative, but the jet boats are some of the most unrully boats to ever hit the water at high speeds. Just remember that every rule that I put in place was for your safety and everytime I was out voted on a rule your chances of a safe return deminished a little bit more. Racing is dangerous and that is why it is fun, cheeting death every lap. That is a huge rush.
-
Those guys are hardly rookies in any sense ......
-beerjet-
-
well the rules we have are just that..... my boat may do 85 if i'm lucky so if another 5mph is gunna kill me, well, its my time.

That portion was basically by-passed when Terry had his meeting with Paul Grishar, no vote just omitted. I am still on a firm stance with this as well as Ross Wallach.
first off, the rules in its ENTIRETY was voted on before i submitted them....nothing was omitted without a vote.....so you better check your facts before you go making accusations like that ever again.
Everyone is on the same page with using nostalgia as a stepping stone into compjet...thus why i said this:
yes, we would perfer people to use nostalgia as a starter class, but its not a requirement based on the rules.
reguardless....rookies just cant jump into a compjet race and start being competitive....theres things they have to go through, just like ralph and omar did at ming back in march (talks with officials after every race, approvals, run outside lanes, etc)....the inboard committee has some firm rules in place already that we are going to follow. remember, this class isnt even born yet....let it grow...we will tweek rules as need be.
your envolvement has been less then helpful...its done more damage then good in some situations...get on board or shut up. quit going against the grain. This is a group effort, not just you. loose the ego.
-
here we go again!!! You don't have to be a rookie to crash a boat!
-
ok now being a newbie....I'm going to ask a dumb question.....is there a rule book? is everything wrote down? if so what is the problem? just go by the rules that are wrote down..........maybe there should be a thread on here that has the rules so no more confusion........just my thought.... ???
-

Hava Al,
I agree with you 100%, but the problem is that this is a (yet-to-be) newly re-born class. CompJet will be running running for the first time in who knows how many years in less then 2 weeks. The previous rules were outdated and needed to be revisted. The entire group got together and voted on the new set of rules before they were submitted to the SCSC so we could run a local club class under the APBA. The rules were voted on and submitted, but Jim (Emanon/noname Performance Marine) still has it in his mind that his rules, though many omitted by the vote (not by one person), are still golden. One of the rules was requiring the rookies to compete in like 16 heats (4 races weekends) of Nostalgia Jet (speedlimit regulated class) before they can compete in CompJet. We are trying to grow these classes and we all felt this would hurt the growth. The rule now states that you have to meet the inboard rules for being a rookie, which does not require you to race Nostalgia before CompJet. Now, this doesnt mean your first time out, you get lane one and mash the gas. You still go through a probationary period which requires you to have the outside lane the entire race.
There is a lot of history behind this classes that i can continue to bore you with, but with a major obstical overcome, we have a wide open road to let this class become bigger and better and grow to unknown expectations.
-
I ran Pro-stock as a rookie and went 104 mph (by mistake) and it wasn't a problem with anybody else in the class. Because I didn't do anything stupid I was allowed to continue racing with the class. I don't see a problem with rookies running on the outside.

After many years in diferent types of racing, I can tell you it doesn't matter if it is written in a rule book or not, there will always be an owner, driver, team member (whiner, cryer, baby) that disagrees with one or more rules and feels he has to let everyone know his feelings.
If there is a real issue that needs to be looked at, it won't be hard to get the officials to act on it.
This is a new division and there is going to be a lot of input from teams that want to tailor the class to their equipment or style of racing. SCSC/APBA needs to build a basic set of rules for equipment and safety regulations to get the class started. Then take polls throughout the year from the class members (owners/drivers) to gather information about adjusting the rules if necessary. It is very important to get through the first year without making a bunch of changes after the season starts.
Emanon: Accidents and failures happen in all forms of racing and there isn't a driver yet that doesn't know he can be killed doing what he loves.
I think your trying to make people aware of the dangers, but here is not the place. If anything you need to encourage others to try the Nostalgia Jet class to help feed the Comp Jet class.
Brad: From what I've been reading in your posts, you seem to be making comments that should be kept to your self. You have a great thing going here at socaljetboats.com. I can tell your passionate about the jet racing classes, but think you need to focus on the build up of the class and moderating the site, not trying to explain why you do things, or who's wrong about ..... You get the point. Keep up the good work.

i'm not sure that desire has anything to do with commitment to the classes that YOU helped create. we need you and your boat, as you can see the boat count is low. what kind of a show do you think that will put on?
for me its about being part of history, i have no sponsorship other than my fuel for my boat. can i afford this race? no but once again its about history in the making ;D and i'll be damned if i'm not going to be a part of it.
just get off your sorry ass and run your boat

Here is the deal, last night Terry stopped by and we had a long talk, before he headed off to the casino. I am planning on bringing my boat with a lil Redneck 429, Lake and River family boat engine in it, if all the parts get here and I can secure sponsorship for the entry fee. I will be there to run, not race. I will be doing it for the sport of jet boat racing and the guys that truely love the sport. Lets have fun and be safe. See ya all out there.

Well I know all about DHL, so I had everything crossed. Those guys actually came through. The cam is in and degreed in, it is set at 1* advanced being I could not get a half a tooth on the chain. If I went the other way it would have been a little retarded and we don't need any more of that shit. So short block is done. waiting for Fed Ex now, it is going to be a long 2 days.

Nick you are very lucky, that is one Bad Ass boat you got there. Not many of you have seen his new boat but it is IMO one of the nicest boats I have ever seen. Nice and clean.

Just talked to terry....he said he would give Jr a call to get the story on if they are going to run or not.
He also said that Rodger would put David in NJ too if it needs the boat count......terry is driving out tomorrow at 4am to thrash on the 410 boat to get it done and ready as well.
im starting to pack now to get on the road....i had to take care of some last minute BS for some people. >:(

Thanks Jim. I am anxious to race it! I think it is one bad ass boat too! ;D

Heads are here and did a piston to valve check, and they are now drying after they were painted. Hope to be testing tonight. Now if only my sponsor would come thru with the funds.

Conversation with Brad:
Boat ran good . Blew a hole in the side of the block the size of my fist three laps in so.......
Comp Jet , toby (53) spun out , recovered . Spun out a second time , ended up under the dash but still recovered . Ralph spun out also mashed his arm against the gunnel real good on his out of the boat and the boat went under . Brunt racing is tryin to get the boat running to run tommorrows heat. Thats all I got folks , hope it's accurate. I want to reiterate to all the racers to be safe and have fun and good luck to all of you !

Ralph was running second I believe when his accident happened. He is OK and the boat was running again within hours and he's back at it today. It was sad to see Brads shinny new oil pan with two big holes in it but....thats racin. It's just a drag it's his first ime out w/ this boat everbody worked so hard to get it in the program. anyone opposed to making a separate pictures only thread? ive got 828 pictures... and they are all giant.. and .. well im just gonna wait to see what brad wants me to do with them. i know my pictures will slow this thread down.. so ill just make a new one when i post them up i guess. ok sounds good.
