Nearest city is Wheatland, CA. The current weather report is partly clowdy with highs in the 60's and lows in the 30's.

I camped out a couple of months ago in 30 degree weather.....NOT FUN.  >:(

Hotels are probably the best bet. There are alot of cities around CFW. Lincoln is on the way. East Sac is about 45 min from the CFW. I'm down for whatever the group wants to do. I think the caravan will be 1/2 the fun of the trip. Not too often yah see a bunch of Hot rod boats in January cruising up the 5  :)

8 hours. With a caravan and the wives/girlfriends/both it might take a little longer.

I am not sure....New Years Day falls on a Monday so it's already a 3 day weekend. Drive up Friday, come back Monday?

I have never been so I dont know when is the good day to be there. Is it all weekend or is it just NYD?

Anyone want to chime in?

Oh it's all in fun. Him and I are good friends. Actually my last two boats were his.
He's got an Eliminator with a blown 540. VERY fast boat! All out it should tip near the high 1 teens. I bought my Sanger off him that does 105. Mine will do it in the 1/4 whereas his is a top end boat. I think I'll get him out of the whole to a point where he is going to have to chase me down.
Funny thing is, I also bought Cole Cash off him. It's a V-drive that does 122 in the 1/4 plus it has a 300 fogger on top of that. In all the midst of our banter back and forth on HB, we made a deal with the Sanger/Cole Cash and some Cash. So basically, the boat I was going to race him with (the Sanger) is now his again and I have Cole Cash.
Long and confussing I know, but that is the jist of it.
Plus, arguing online durring the winter is common place (and alot of fun)
Him and I are still racing on New years as all 3 boats in question will be there. If he takes out the Sanger, then I'll race him in Cole Cash.

It's usuallty a 1 day vent with people basically partying beforehand. Mostly the motorhome croud host a series of parties and potlucks. New Years day is when it gets crackin.
The last 3 years the weather has been shitty, so it's something we are deffinatly going to have to keep an eye on. Being that we are southern cal boaters, we are a bit used to thewarmer weather the south has to offer (well atleast I know that I am.) ;D

for Being so cal should do something in elsinore considering the weather is so up in the air (and freezing cold) elsinore has a campground right by the boat launch, and theres a high speed zone, and like up above i noticed yes you can drink up some cold ones in the channel (are those annoying bugs still all overr the channel??)

The idea to go up there is because of the large gathering of jet/v-drive boats that happens on NYD and Fathers Day.

I dont mind doing something at elsinor in the near future as well.

Yes they will at the gate or on the ramp . I've talked to people on the lake that use the north ramp and there are no questions asked. I've never done it for sure.

The week leading up to Fathers day is when it's hoppin with the fast stuff. The weekend is off the hook with live band and s-loads of people. I was planning on leaving tuesday and staying through Sunday night and come back Monday morning. If some are planning on going for two days only I'd reccomend the weekend.
