UPDATE! 8/21/2020
This event has MOVED once again!
It will be hosted at Pirate Cove Resort at Park Moabi just south of Needles, CA.
We will be on the beach right across the channel from the Pirate Cove Restaurant. Look for the banners and flags! We'll have our booth set up with our merchandise. We thank the staff at Pirates Cove for accommodating us on such short notice!
The previous plan to have the event at Topock near the 40 Freeway Bridge was shut down by the Federal Fish and Wildlife Service because it was within the Havasu Wildlife Refuge.
UPDATE! 8/11/2020
As the saga of COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc in our day to day lives, I have some good news and bad news about the SoCal Jet Boats "One Hot Summer Weekend" event at the Avi. The Avi Beach, Boat Ramp and Pool remain closed. Due to this, the event in itself is cancelled, BUT... this is what we have to offer.
The group rate for the Avi rooms is still active. We are still planning on staying there, but we (SoCal Jet Boats) will be launching elsewhere and hanging out on a beach just outside the inlet of Topock 66 on Saturday August 29th . We invite everyone to swing by and hang out with us. You are welcome to stop by, hang out for the day or go for a cruise in the beautiful Gorge just south of there.
Here are the details as I know a ton of people will have questions:
-The Pool, Beach and Launch Ramp are closed at the Avi.
-The Boat parking lot on the south side of the Avi is closed. Everyone will have to park out in the main parking lot. All guests need to enter and depart thru the main entrance by Valet. Valet and Bellman services remain closed as well.
-All guests will need to wear masks at all times when they are on Avi property except in their hotel rooms. This includes (but not limited to) the restaurants, Casino Floor, Hotel Lobby, Gift Shop, and Hotel Hallways. Guests are only allowed to lower masks while they are eating (to take a bite), to take a drink (then right back into place), and to take a drag off their cigarette. This is their rules and you will be asked to leave if you don't comply. Please respect the people enforcing it as they are only doing their job as directed. This is not the place to express your opinions on masks. If you disagree with these policies, you are welcome to stay elsewhere.
-All guests are subject to a temperature check each time they enter the building.
-The group rate for the Avi Hotel is GOHSW20. It has been extended until August 16th at midnight. This is available for Thursday Friday and/or Saturday night (August 27th - August 29th; departing on Sunday August 30th). You must call the Avi at 1-800-284-2946 to make your reservations. Group Rate Discounts cannot be granted to reservations made through 3rd party travel sites.
-The Avi Beach Tower is closed as they are operating at a limited capacity. Anyone that made a reservation before August 7th in a Deluxe or a Riverview room will be complimentary upgraded to a Luxury room.
-Avi Casino bars remain closed.
-Avi Casino is open and operational with some limitations. Please inquire with them if you have any questions.
-Any gatherings of 50 people or more on the Avi property (inside or outside) will be asked to disburse.
-Launch Ramps that are open south of the Avi include Jack Smith Park in Needles, Pirates Cove or Topock 66 (limited trailer parking). These places do have launch fees. Please contact them for more information.
-We (Brittney and I) will be hanging out on the beach just outside the inlet that goes into Topock 66. This is on the AZ side just above the 40 freeway bridge. Just look for the SoCal Jet Boats flag. You are welcome to swing by, hang out, or just wave from a distance. We will have some items available for purchase from the pontoon boat. We welcome anyone who wants to come by and make a purchase. We thank you all for your support of our small business and the boating community.
I hope everyone still comes and enjoys this weekend on the river. Yes, it's not the same, but it's better than nothing. Thank you and stay well. We hope to see you all there.
-Brad & Brittney

As of yesterday, they just gave the green light for casinos in vagas to open on June 4th. We don't have any inside information just yet as the entire staff has been laid off.....so once those individuals get back into position, we will have some insights as to what their opening date will be. Once we hear anything, we'll be posting it here and on the other outlets.

Since this the first time we have had a gathering at Pirate Cove Resort, there are a lot of questions. Attached is a map of where the SCJB Booth (Green Square) will be and the circled area in red is the area where boats will be parked. The huts circled in orange are the water taxi pick-up/drop-off points. Please do not park your boat within the buoys in front of them.
- There is no entry fee. Just come hang out and have a great time! For those attending without a boat, you can still come over and join the fun. There is a complimentary Water Taxi that runs at various stops in the channel. Feel free to use this to get to the other side of the channel to visit us. Don't forget to tip the driver!
- Feel free to use the water taxi to head over to the bar and restaurant to grab food and drinks. You are welcome to bring it back with you on the water taxi. You are welcome to leave the restaurant with your beer or adult bucket drinks to take back on the water taxi.
- There is a 7 lane public launch ramp at Pirate Cove Resort, the launch fee is $20 for the day. There is also ample trailer parking.
- Pirate cove resort is a pet friendly venue, please keep you pet on a leash and clean up after them.
- The beach space where we will be (Circled in Red) is not reserved. It is strictly on a first come basis. No reserving spots. Don't be upset if you leave for several hours and someone is parked where your sand spike or beach chair was. Please be respectful as it will be crowded.
- Essex Boats is having a regatta at Pirate Cove as well on Saturday. They have reserved the beach space in front of the restaurant and the Docks. Please be respectful of their regatta.
- Please exercise social distancing and general safety so we can all enjoy this weekend and come back to do it again!
