Ive been so busy lately that I havent been on here in a while. Here is a buggy that a customer brought to me a few weeks ago. A little back story of this car... He paid to have this chassis built two years ago. He finally picked it up just before Thanksgiving, and this is what he got. so, whatever, he took it out for a test drive before going to Glamis for Thanksgiving, an donly got to drive it for 20 minutes. The rear of the cage was soo poorly designed that the arms hit the chassis both in bump and droop, leaving him with only 6" of travel. The arms hitting in bump, also smashed the brake lines, yay! The only motor mount, ripped the bolts right out of the motor, and the steering wheel quick release came off in his hands. He said "F" it, and called me. I have since cut the car off behind the rear seats, and re-designed it. re-plumbed the fuel filter/pump setup, redone all roof support bars, added X bars to roof, and rear for the radiator, doing a coilover conversion in the rear to yeild a full 15" of travel, and also re-designing the front as well. along with a new pedal assembly to make it a hydraulic clutch and a master cylinder for 4 wheel brakes. This is a big job, but fun...

Stop, I'm getting inspired to spend lots of money now! This guy should have gone back to break some legs on the first builder, poor design and I hope it didn't set him back that much $$$. Looks like you are doing him right, should be a solid working machine when your done. More pics please!

Did the owner look a car they built before he orderd this one?

ya i felt bad when he brought it home because he was sooo excited to have his car. And i could not help but laugh. I knew you had the skill to make it right and not screw him on price. That chasis cost him a ton of cash and could have had a nice car built or bought a nice car with the amount of cash he has in this thing. just remember to build it tough cause we take these things out and play pretty hard

Ive got some more progress on the car done. Rear suspensions is completed, I was able to safetly pull 17" of travel out of it. Shock mounts are built. All chassis repairs are finished up. New fuel filterand pump is plumbed. I am still waiting on the new pedal assy., so I can run the new brake and clutch lines. He stopped by the shop this morning to check it out, and told me its coming back in March so I can do an A-arm conversion on the front. It will pull an honest 20" of travel with 10" coilovers. Body panels and roof are last, and then I plan on testing next weekend if all goes well.
