Alright so i found a couple stress cracks up towards the front of the bow on the left & right side.Drivers side seems to b a little worse..I was wiping down the boat and felt a soft\flexy spot in the glass
with a stress crack running thru it.Hard to see cause looks like previous owner painted over it the other side also has stress crack not as bad...Im curious how they ended up in this spot? was the Boat wrecked? From Beaching it over time?from the trailer? Just wondering if i should attempt to fix this or to start looking for a new hull..Any Pointers will b appreciated Big time Thanks

fiberglass can almost always be fixed, just depends on if it is worth it. From what I know, you have to start sanding and see how far the cracks might be spread out. After you find out how bad it is then you can figure out if it's worth fixing. My .02

i agree with 74 hondo post some pics so they can be seen i have chased a few my self on my float if its on the bow just could be the original gell coat post some pics see if i can help :thumbup: :thumbup:

Ok i sanded it down,Not to sure what to think,Looks like there might have been a crack b4 and they patched it but it all feels pretty stong just a lil flex in the center to where the rest is solid all around it..Im honestly not sure let me know what u guys think...Also found another surprise under the dash theres a wall built and glass in not sure what thats called.But theres was a a carpeted wall built in front and screwed to it.I unscrewed it to relocate Amp. & noticed that previous owner must of cut half of this wall out and never glassed back in..So i have another project,But could this be a cause of stress??? Ill take pics and post them up.any pointers on replacing that wall would be Great as well.Thanks tryin to get back on the water..

Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to go about patching this??? should i patch from in side hull or from the outside..I noticed that half of Dash Wall is cut out and the bow is full of foam,Just wondering if i should cut this wall completely out ,cut out foam to get to damaged spot and either refoam or get a tractor innertube or something to stuff back in the bow and glass that wall back in...Or should i not touch that foam and glass that wall back in and patch from outside and call it a day??? Im gonna try and get this started this weekend any suggestions would b great...I feel like the previous owner attempted to fix it but gave up covered the wall and sold it to me hahaha..IM not giving up wanna get To the River at least once this summer...

Is this a full stinger boat? If you have a rotted stringer or stringers then it will flex or twist causing it to crack like what you have there.

The boat is not a full stringer,But im curious if the floor the previous owner put in is causing this stress on the hull looks to me like they just glassed in a sheet of plywood over the old floor...Im not sure what to do at this point i keep finding one surprise after another...Is it possible previous owner could of cut out the stringers????

Did you figure it out? I just had the same problem. Ripped the bulkhead out, took interior out, and had a friend of mine help with the rest, we cut a 6 foot section of the floor out, sanded the old glass that was deteriorated, patched it back up with 3 layers of 3oz mat and 1 layer of a solid bidirectional weave. Then sanded the outside of the hull and patched it with 2 layers of 3oz mat and a good layer of marine putty, sanded it smooth then gel coat was applied.
There are a lot of factors that can cause these cracks in that area, 40 years of beatings, trailers not being set up for long hauls, and so on. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

Got laid off work..The boat is up Forsale asking $3,500 if anyone is interested text me (818)399-3668 Just need the rest of Bulk head removed & to b patched back in and stress crack patched..I HATE to sell it but have no choice and i just dont have the xtra cash to fix it...My lose your gain any questions text anytime Thanks....

Dude, if I don't end deploying, I will fix it bro!!!!! Don't sell it man, go to Home Depot and get a job to hold you over. All we need is some resin and marine putty. Should be able to hammer it out in a day, I have left over cdx plywood for the bulkhead!
