I'm buying it from a friend if it can be fixed semi
Easily his family is totally scared off of boating now sadly
Great boat
496 chevy
Yj jacuzzi
Interior is good
Gel is nice minus the damage
Any idea about how much it would be to get it fixed ?
I've been looking for a boat like this for a lonngggg time
For 1700 I feel like it's a good buy in the motor alone ...

Anything can be fixed... Fixed right and fixed to work are two different things.

And that's why I was asking about how much you all think it might cost
I'd love it to be perfect however I don't know if that's even possible to do ?

I saw this boat on CL earlier. And I don't know how much it would cost but there is a lot of similar boats right around the same price, ready to roll. If it were me I'd look into a "ready to roll" boat, even more so because it's cheeping up real close to summer.

Good for parts. The YJ jacuzzi is the deal breaker.

If you're up to the work, buy it (offer $1000) and find another hull without the engine and accessories.

That boat is worth more as a pile of parts than it is a project.

It is totally repairable, but the amount of work that has to go into it would be result prohibitive, If it was a Cole TR2, a Rogers or something I would say go for it, but complete (before crash) it was a $3000-$3500 boat on a really good day.

Gotta take advantage of the wife saying buy it lol

Anyone know if that is a chopper gun shot hull?  Looks like it by the way the glass broke.  If so, that would a deal breaker for me.  I agree that the engine alone is worth the price.  Look for a project hull and roll the good parts over and sell off the rest.

Well for 1000 bucks ... It is now in the driveway lol
I'm gonna try and find a guy to fix the glass tomorrow or if anyone has someone to reccomend
I'm in Claremont right by Pomona
Also need some small parts for the jet a bushing an such
Needs a forward reverse cable as well it is broken

Ding ding ding... give this man a prize

The Southwind is likely a better hull to start and will definitely have better resale value when completed.

Where do you live buddy? I got a hoist and other things we'd need. Provide a case of beer and we can chop it up one weekend. Just get both hulls side by side and ready to go.

Anything to get another good float in the water.

Just got a quote for 485 to fix the damage minus new gelcoat
Feel like I should fix it hammer it for the summer then swap hulls ?
Baha'is it possible if I found a better drive that I could swap when I switch hulls ?

That sounds way to cheap. And if you want to switch drives I'd find a hull with the desired drive already in it.

Also why go through all that expense to just swap it and trash it anyways?

Agreed, also is that $485 including paint? Or is it just fiberglass work?

Just the glass work I guess gelcoat would be in the thousands
And it wouldn't match because the rest is faded

Should be the other way around it should cost more to do glass work due to all the labor involved to do it right

Is the quote from Rick at Islander Marine.  If so, those guys are totally legit.  Doing the glass patch really isn't that hard, but matching the gel is much more involved an technical that you would think.

Me personally, this is probably what I would do.  Under 1500.00 total investment, and your boating for the summer.  Just shoot primer on the patched area and enjoy the boat.  especially if you don't have the time and tools to do a hull swap right now.  After the summer you can look around for a replacement if you still want to do that.

Yes it's islander marine rick was the estimator and owner I think
He said matching he gelcoat would be the expensive part
And pretty much mirrored what icecreamman just said fix it enjoy it sell it make some money buy a nicer boat next season
This hasto be the most helpful group of guys I've ever met on the Internet !?!
Thank you all so much !

On point. Fix it and beat it this summer then find a hull this winter with a Berk and transfer your motor. Bam !

Have them fix it and throw a wrap on it.

Or have it fixed, primer and leave it and it'll be a cool conversation piece

They reccomended glassing the bulkhead in that's behind the gas pedal for rigidity
So I can't get a pic in there anymore
What I saw before they did that looked like they made a piece that was a foot wider than the hole and stuck it on with a few layers looked like a different kind of Mat than the original stuff
It  looked semi pretty just stuck out like a sore thumb
Repair has a guarentee tho haha  guaranteed that the boat will break around the repair if it broke ever haha
