The gauge holes on the liberty are 2 5/8" and all my mooneyes gauges are 2 1/16. The simple thing would be to get the right size gauges....but mooneyes doesn't sell 2 5/8 gauges.
So I need to make the holes smaller. The plan is to fill in the existing holes and drill new ones. I obviously need to do this before paint.
Since I have removed all the wood behind the dash because it was rotted, this should be easier.
The plan is to glass a piece of cloth on the backside and while its still wet, clamp on the new piece of wood that will be the backside of the dash. Once it drys, glass in the edges and around the steering column and dash supports. (which were cut away from the dash to make ease of a rack install
)
Now the question is....I will need to fill in the void where the old gauge holes were between the wood and surface of the dash.
Anyone have any ideas what to use? I figure resin, but it would just sag out or drip before it cures. same with poxy putty....the weight of it (because its so much) would just cause it to sag.
