Title: Barbeque Paint

so the chrome is really rough on my headers and im used to all of my stuff looking nice...anyway i cant afford coating until the off season, and i want to hit the lake this weekend to break in the new motor...do you guys think that if i use barbeque paint it will hold up until november? or is there another option

btw i want a matte black look!

You will need to glass bead the chrome for the paint to stick, I guess you could try some Scotch Brite pads...I have used VHT cast iron colored paint before and they actually looked pretty sporty...

I don't know if BBQ paint would hold up, I thought it was only rated to 500*F, I dunno.... :-\

i was thinking about sanding with 60 grit cause i need it done this week

You just need to "scuff" the smooth finish of the nickle, I would rather see you use like 600 grit paper....BTW, most BBQ paints are good for 600*F and 1200*F intermittently, not high enough IMHO....Go flame proof coatings from either VHT or Duplicolor..Only because I have used both do I recommend them, I am sure there are others.  :thumbup:
