Alright...Might as well get this section started.
I parked my boat on the side of the street and unfortunately...some fool ran into the back of it. It didn't do much damage but did take some of the paint and fiberglass off.
My question... is there a way to fix myself (just patch it up) rather than take it to a shop and have my wallet drained?
I will post a pick of the small damage soon

Post up some pictures when you get a chance....
Fiberglass repairs can be easily done if you have the place to do it and the patience. Take your time and do it right the first time. :)

ahh, thats not too bad....i had this image of a hole punched into your hull the size of a basketball. ;D
I have very little (none) experience doing cosmetic repairs on gelcoat.
best thing to do is take down to your local boatshop and see what they suggest unless someone else can chime in with some more information.

Seriously ! Thats it ! I thought it had taken out the transome . Take it to a shop or at least someone who knows what they are doin and you'll never notice it . I cant imagine a shop charging that much for that either. Shop around , you'll be surprised.

Alright...Alright.
So it's not major damage. But, looking at it from an owner standpoint...it's huge. Unfortunately..it's going to take about 400 - 600 to fix it and match the paint.

WOW ! >:( I guess you better get yourself a gel kit and get practicing your color match. :-\

Another possible option is to take it to a surf shop that does surf board repair... a repair like this should be easy for them.

Because of where the damage is, what I'm about to suggest is going to be a pain in the ass... none the less, it should be done. You need to get inside the hull and make sure that the impact didn't stress the glass. Sometimes a small contact area on the outside ends up spider cracking the glass over a much larger area. If you just repair the small area and the cracks are there, they'll eventually spread through the gel in the entire area. The cracked glass is obviously weakened and should be repaired.
FWIW, I'd check with GS Marine in Corona. A family member tagged the corner of a dock with the back corner of the deck and actually punched a hole through. The complete color matched repair as well as a couple other nicks and scratches being repaired was around 3-400 about 4 years ago.
