covering a cracked deck.
« on: December 07, 2013, 08:26:58 AM »
The deck is covered in cracks.
Wanted to put a layer or two of fiberglass on it to keep it from back.
Cloth or mat or both and how many layers.
I don't plan on putting a ton of work into it.
I would just hate to put a shitty paint job on it and still have the cracks come through.

The cracks are there for a reason, either chemical (doubtful) environment (probably?) or movement (possibly), either way if you just cover them up they will eventually come back.

Grind it all off back to glass put a layer of cloth on it and regel or paint.

If you cover up they will come through again.

When i did my SWTD the deck was covered in small cracks. i sanded the whole deck down to bare glass , ground out the big cracks. Then I put 3 layers of 1 oz CSM. kinda over kill but its solid.

Fock it.....boats not worth it.
Gonna just put a layer or two on it and call it good.
I've already sanded it about half ways through.
