Ok so I just realized after a year of having my boat that it's a fiberglass gas tank? Why in the hell did they use fiberglass for the gas tank wouldn't it disintegrate? Should a change it?

It's front mounted do change the set up or put a plastic or aluminum one in its spot?

back in the day they didnt have all the additives for smog and "cleanliness" like they do today. not to mention a good percentage of gas nowadays is actually ethanol. which unfortunately doesnt play nice with fiberglass tanks. back in the day they didnt have this problem and aluminum was more costly. not to mention when they were cranking out a 100 boats a week in the 70's they could easily build gas tanks with readily available materials instead of having another shop make their tanks for them. just think, its worked fine for almost what... 40 years?
slap a set of aluminum tanks in it asap. the last thing you want in a boat is a fuel leak/fire.
side/gunnel tanks if you have the room help balance the boat.

I thought they put the tank in the front to keep the nose down? Is it better to have side tanks?
