Title: Gel/fiberglass repairs
Post by: drogers87 on June 22, 2016, 06:10:28 PM
Guys, new member here. First jet boat. Picked up an '82 Carrera 20.5. Going through small repairs now.

Previous owner couldn't keep a few people from walking on the bow. Little stress cracking here and there but one spot worries me a little. Looks like pressure from someone's heel put a defect with cracks running out from the center point. At the center, small pit (1/8 drill bit).

My question is: how do I fill and what product do I use? I'm a newbie to fiberglass/resin.

I'll post pics of the hole when I get the boat back from shop. Any and all tips appreciated.

Dan

Here is a semi-closeup. Worth the hassle to fix? Some kind of sealer? What say you?

Discoloration in the paint because I haven't restored the gel yet. Don't mind the haze...
