OUCH!

mine has 2x 10k pound cables hooked right to the hydraulic ram that actuates the surge brakes... So as soon as it comes off the hitch the brakes are locking on...

I remember reading about that mishap over on hotboat...glad to see its coming back around.

After reading this, I'm going to replace the chains on my trailer also.

My dad had a utility trailer get away once, mowed down a wood fence and stopped in someones backyard.

My uncles neighbors had a mishap a few years back. Trailer came off the motorhome at 65MPH. Boat came off the trailer, outdrive came off the boat and went through someones windshield. The boat itself slammed the side of someones minivan. The outdrive left two people in the hospital one in ICU for a little over 2 weeks.

A couple of these and it wont get away from you next time:

OK - trailer is being fitted to the boat right now (with BIG chain) - and I just picked up the short block.

I can feel the water a commin'.....

After my trailer mishap , it absolutly amazes me how much trailers are neglected . I guess if it dont make your boat faster , then it dont get looked over . Even the welds at the joints on the trailer . Mine are starting to show some cracks . Take care of them trailers people !

BJ, I'm with you.  What really amazed me is how poorly this trailer was made (and it's a nice trailer).  All the seams had been smoothed with bondo and when you ground it out, you see poor penetration, cracks and just poor workmanship.

My son spent a ton of nights welding up Pops trailer to make it safe.  I had huge plans for making it bling but shit, it's not worth it.  I'm just gonna make it safe....

Hey Speedy, glad to see your gettin her back together. I wondered how you ever came out on that deal. Chances are if you would have got them to fix it ,you'd just have to redo it anyway to get it right. RE the whole chain deal I've always cris crossed the 2 chains under my tounge to hopefully "cradle" it so it can't fall to the pavement in case there ever is an mishap.

Yea, me too. Snapped them like a 30 year old twig.

So far 100% out of pocket.

On another note, the engine is coming along. Here is a pic mocked up with the TR - I have a single plane with an 850 dp on it too that i will also be trying out.

Yep. BIG is in. I made him put the beefiest ones he had, they are for the large large large fishing boats....

On one of the other thread, they were talking about discoing the jet before - not to run it dry.

Now, if I unbolt the driveline, I don't know how the thing won't destroy itself on the flywheel - nothing to keep it off (the u joints will just bend it down). And I need to run the engine 'cause I just put it together..

I'm guessing your talking about disconnecting the driveline from the flywheel, starting the engine, and worried about the driveline "falling" onto the flywheel??

You're a real smart dude so I'm guessing your driveline doesn't dissassemble easily, like with u-bolts.

I would use zip ties (linked together to make a real long zip tie) to hold the driveline up and away from the flywheel.    Hopefully I'm not completely mis-understanding you.
