Title: Jeez, when do you say enough already?
Post by: jrork on November 04, 2007, 01:29:37 PM
Okay, I've capped it, decked it of all the lights, filled the old thru-transom holes, filled the notch in the gunnel (sp?) where the old logs interferred and some moron cut a notch, sprayed it with epoxy paint to seal it, applied some small amounts of filler, sprayed it with enough 2K primer to cover a small size dome stadium. Sanded all that back down till there's hardly any paint left on it and now have blocked it with 400 grit wet and dry till it's stinking shiny.....

Now the question, when do you say enough is enough? I'm certain I could mess with this till I'm 100 years old and never completely be satisfied but really, when do you say enough?  My wife is liable to divorce me , my kids are gonna hate me, my mom who lives with us is starting to search the rental classifieds and worst of all, our dog is scared of me. I'm thinking I better start the spraying soon or put the boat out in the yard and grow vegetables out of it................

Besides, I gotta get to building this blower motor..... my buddies all stepping it way up motor wise and I gotta get busy.......

Now there's an idea.  But do you have enough growing season to that?  :D  I think we could all spend forever and never be completely satisfied.  What will I do once I get to the hull and start working it over???  I cleaned out the bilge and found the some nitwit played with resin and didn't even bother to clean the old carpet glue out before applying the resin.  I found globs of silicon and more insulation used in place of glass mat or cloth.

You're doing a fine job on your project.  Now I'm thinking about another and haven't finished this one...  BUT you have to buy with the project is available.  Know where I can find a good 4 bolt main SBC?  :D

I know, I know. I'm just really getting sick of sanding........  Oh well, I just had a brain fart.  Back to sanding I go.

if you give yourself deadlines, it helps.....i have a project that i have been sitting on for months and i gave myself a deadline...yeah, its kicking my ass, but it will be worth it when its all said and done.

Yup, I've got a deadline of June of next year.  The NW gang has been invited to attend the Tastin and Racin Unlimited Light hydro races and they've got a spot reserved for us right next to the Beer Garden.  They showed some real insight when the decided at the last minute to NOT let us put on a exhibition run with our boats.
With that said, they showed no insight when the decided instead to put our boats NEXT to the Beer Garden!!!  They clearly don't know this bunch   ;D
