Project Hawaiian
« on: January 30, 2008, 08:30:17 PM »
I officially owned this boat for 4 days I think. The bilge and stringers and transom were butt ugly with about 50 pounds of fiberglass and resin from PepBoys and someone's garage all over the place.

I told the new owner I would grind everything down fill and wrap the stringers and paint it up. The one issue I am having is that the cold weather is not letting everything set up but so far I am pleased with the progress.

As Skip delivered it to me

Sanding and filled the holes

Wrapped and resined

1st layer or paint

Now the bummer.... that took hours and I am 1/3 done. I hope this stuff sets up well. I might have to go get a garage heater to help everything Kick...

Oh, ok.  I was wondering why you were doing all this work if you longer owned the boat.  I've got a lot of hull work to do this summer some time, when the weather warms up, glass and paint.  But, it'll be for me on my boat.   ;)  Which I'll be keeping for a long time.

No garage just a car port.  I'll just have to wait for spring.   :-\

The only thing I have left to spend on is paint, carpet and upholstery.  Everything else is new.  :D  I need to have a tighter seal than just tarps, neighbors have trees and bushes that blow crap around all the year long.  My $2000 boat has turned into a $10000 project and that's not going wild on anything.  Just fixing up/rebuilding back to what it should have been when I got it.

Now if I can find a sweet Tahiti hull like R/C has to drop my new 350 in I'd be happy to spend some more on it.  :)
