For my first boat i redid I used total boat top side polyurethane flag ship blue. I also threw a ton of flake in it. Being single stage I had a ton of sanding and it stays on when prepped correctly, its strong and tuff against kids climbing in an out of the boat as well an seems to me that scratch's are limited as well. I'm not a painter or know much but I'm happy with it's out come and time hasn't been that long to tell how it holds up against the sun. It will lay down over gel and stick if you have sanded beyond factory paint it will need a primer and it be activated.
