I'm starting a big project right before the season starts. 

Heres the plan

Pull the gauges
Fill in the dash
Strip the paint
Cap it (ouch)  Superjet I'm gonna be leanin on you for this one
Paint it
New gauges
rewire it (again) (maybe) (probably not)

I'll try and keep the pics and updates flowing.  If anyone has any input or suggestions I'd apreciate them.

If anyone in Norcal is a good painter and not a good tradesman, lets talk.  I'm a general contarctor and maybe we could work some thing out.

Very cool, get after it man. the capping is not as daunting of a task as you would think. Like I said in my response to your pm, I am more than happy to help and answere any and all questions you have.And remember lots-o-pics 

For starters, the rub rail is off. I cut all the bolts that were holdin it. The gap is really tight from the cap to the hull all the way around. How much of a groove do I have to grind between the two.

I'm workin on getting the first batch of pics up. Gonna have to put em on photobucket first I guess. It's sayin they're to big??

You want to grind it out enough to get down into the tabbing. If you want to get crazy you can gind out about 4'' on each side of the seam along the gunnels, and lay up the cap in long stripped layers. if you do it this way you need to be very careful of air bubbles and pot life of resin. this is more of an advanced way , simply because of the area being worked. You will also be doing a lot more glassing than you would be by doing it the way I did mine.(had I not been so impatient this is how I would have done mine) When I did mine, on the gunnels I ground the seam about 2 inches out on each side. and on the bow area I used the whole area(wich is only about 3/4'')  Also when you grind it out keep it as uniform as possible down the side, least amount of gouges as possible.This will speed up the capping process and aid in filling/final blocking. Do not be afraid of resin fillers/additives such as cab-o-sil or chopped strand.... I used cab-o-sil and it is a time saver and very strong. My boat was in some water multiple times this past season, that I was positive busted the cap on my hull, and it has taken it all in stride. By no means is my way gospel but it does work. And just like most things there are a thousand ways to do it and everyone has their own way of doing things. This is just mine. Question, what resin are you using(epoxy,vinyl,poly) I used epoxy resin on mine and had great success. Again pictures help a bunch (sounds like you just need to resize yours), when you get some up I and others will be able to help you much better.
