So did some reading and looks like Easy-Off oven cleaner is the way to go-
Any tips / what to expect ?
I am planning on taping off the area surrounding and below to keep the rest of the hull protected-
Will I need a plastic scraper or just some rags and elbow grease.
Any prep after to clean up area to put new vinyl numbers on? Always just used soapy water and squeegee-

I just switched reg on the new boat from AZ to CA and need to do this as well.
Bought easy off, but would love to hear from someone who's done it before as well!

I had to do this on a boat i had. I used rubbing compound. and a towel. worked like a dream. a little wax when i was done!

Just got done using the easy off. It worked pretty well. It will immediately turn the gel yellow, but white vinegar reversed it.
Watch out for anything with paint that may be hit by overspray or dripped on. I didn't even think about the drips on the trailer; whoops.
Overall it looks ok and the easy off did the job. I'm going to hit it with a rubbing compound and then wax once it cools down.

Thanks for the info- Was going to tape everything off- The boat name on the back I'm more worried about since it is a lot of surface area-
