Heard some old school guys talking about using "Easy Off" to remove paint from gel coat.  Was a little skeptical but said screw it lets try it.  Holy crap it worked great!  Sprayed it in a cup and Dabbed it on with a q tip.  Didn't want it everywhere.  After a few minutes the paint wiped right off.  Few spots needed a few coats but not bad.  After the paint wiped away I wiped it down with alcohol to remove any lasting chemical.  The gel was dull afterwards but hit it with a rubbing compound and it polished right up!  Now a Rename.....

I've used it on a few things, most recently to strip the rattle can paint job off of my scoop down to the black gel coat,and just did my dash grab handle yesterday, strips paint and anodizing great!

I used oven cleaner on mine, that's what I heard from here. Worked great.

Are you sure it's all paint in the whole boat?

For a job that big, you might want to look into a real paint stripper.
If you do a search, it's been talked about before, (maybe check on performance boats as well).
Some use stripper, some use a razor blade, some have used a sander to get off old paint.
Some have used all 3 trying to figure out what works best.

Yea the guy before me painted it and it's hideous.

The center of the deck is still gelcoat but the rest is paint.

I'd love to get it back down to the gel but I'm worried it might not buff out nicely..
