The database choked up on Terrys responce and the server didnt know how to process it. I couldnt figure out why, so I axed it from the database. Might want to restate your claims from the original post.

just fill it with resin? or sand it down, prep, and glass and resin over it, primer and paint?

I have a Tahiti and it did the same thing. You need to look at the wood on the transom because it might be rotten. From the water gettin it wet and the wood swelling. Hope that helps. Good Luck!!!

Do I even want to know what has to be done to replace the transom wood?

its not that complicated, you just need to have motivation and stay on top of it. It is labor intensive. The hardest part is removing the old transom, it just....does...not...come....out...in.. ..one....piece. >:(

Don't spend too much time worrying about that seam, nothing unusual about it at all. The wood in the transom should stop well below the seam and is glassed in and sealed while the boats being layed up in the mold, a leaky seam should have no effect on it what so ever. Unless you have an outboard or I/O, then the wood sometimes runs higher than the seam. Hell, a jet boat doesn't even need wood in the transom, there's nothing to be gained by it except for somewhere to hang stuff. It's not structural.

Whats the best way (procedure) to filling it in. Correctly) The boat was painted recently but right now its stripped out and I am going to sand and repaint anyways. Finishing the trailor right now, almost done, thank god!
