So I pulled my two fuel tanks after going through several inline filters and still getting crap. Tanks were held in by some kind of spray foam almost like "Great stuff" foam. I'm thinking someone did this as a quick fix? Or is there some kind of product designed for mounting fuel tanks this way? The tanks are rectangle galvanized steel and I can see where it looks like they used to be secured with fiberglass on the front and towards the back on the bottom.
What would be the best way to reinstall these? Should I fiberglass them in or build some kind of a mount / strap?

Weld some tabs to them then glass over the tabs. That’s how my old rectangle ones were done. Worked great

So i'm planning to put bracket on the tank and mount it to plywood glasses in at both ends like bobs.
This is the first time for me working with fiberglass so any tips or best product recommendations let me know. Or if there is a good thread or tutorial out there please share.

Here’s how I did the tanks in my old Eliminator.

Did you guys just glass them across the bottom or the sides too?
How should I go about removing the old fiberglass that attach to the tank?
Should I grind it out or can I put heat on it and peel it up?

Apply some resin, put the layer of mat or cloth down, then resin over the top of it. Make sure you have a roller to get all the air bubbles out. I’ll see if I have any more progress shots.
