Ok so a buddy if mine just picked up a open bow commander boat. A short section of the stringer is rotten from the motor mounts holes. My question is it ok to replace a small section of the stringer as Long as the 2 pieces are spliced together well. Thus is not a high horse power boat stock bbc with a berkley E pump. Thanks for the input
Here's the issue I have.
To just scab a piece of new material in a rotted section is asking for issues down the road.
To do this repair, the engine needs come out, the bad wood removed, new wood fitted, pinned, fiberglass, grinding, painting, reinstall the engine, drill new holes Yada Yada blah blah blah.
The work description is identical to replace the whole thing. Just a bit more in materials and prep time.
Why just wash the ass of the underwear when it takes very little to complete the job?..
