Title: Stress cracks?
Post by: 76Rogers on June 11, 2015, 09:53:06 AM
I've been noticing that my hull is starting to get stress cracks where the top and the bottom of the hull were "married" but is there really anyway to prevent/hide these cracks? They don't bother me that much, but cosmetically they're an eye sore to others. I've noticed that the Rogers hulls crack in the same spot and I was wondering if anyone already took some steps to prevent/hide it.

With your boat all white should be a easy fix. My boat has the same thing.

Ive seen a few people add rub rails to hide them, but how should I go about fixing it without a cover up?

Depending on the crack, now I have not seen a pic so this is talking out of My ads as it were butt. You have to grind in to the crack feather it out glass over it sand it down smoothing it out then spray he'll coat or primer and paint. Which is why you see people put a rub rail on. Its quit a bit of work, and if you have someone do it. Its gonna cost you!

Don over at Pats fiberglass knows how to get them out and they don't come back. I believe he sands and glasses them from both sides then matches your gel. I could be wrong.

Thanks guys, I'll check into re glassing it. Maybe if I have enough time, I'll have the motivation to do it myself haha.

I did a staggered 1" blk then blue on top vinyl offset 1/4" around the cracks in same area for years till I added a wht rub rail. I'd wait on anything major till off season.
