Title: Stripping Paint
Post by: GeneralLee on August 05, 2010, 11:38:51 AM
Hey guys now that my pump and motor are out of the boat I figured its the perfect time to repaint the boat. The original gel is the og brown with gold flakes but its been painted over (looks to me like a base coat clear coat job) . What's the best way to take that paint off? Stripper or orbital sander? Id like to shoot another base/clear ontop of my original gel...

check out my thread on my new project in boat showcase I stripped mine using a fiberglass friendly product(very important) then primed sealed and base clear worked great. I had to put stripper on twice then power washed it off, then hand sanded until the rest of the paint was gone. mine had a real heavy layer of paint which made it harder.
