Title: Swim step
Post by: jonnyboy92 on July 20, 2014, 07:52:49 PM
Anyone ever mount one of those spring loaded swim steps to their boat? If so was it mounted to the swim platform brackets or to the platform itself.

I have fiberglass swim steps/ platform and was looking to add a spring loaded step but unsure if it has to be to the fiberglass or if I can mount to the brackets itself coming off the transom

Yea, I have a  Aqua Performance retractable step on my boat. My swim steps are stainless frames with plastic slats.
I mounted it to the slats and then thus bolted the slats to the stainless frame with stainless carriage bolts .
The slats themselves are probably just over a 1/2 inch thick.
I love the step, board the boat and not worry about the step hanging down or coming loose

Maybe my fiberglass steps will be strong enough to mount it
