first time posting here ive been checking on here an reading on how to wet sand or color sand an i was just wonder if anyone thinks this could wet sand out or should I just save an paint it. Thanks

Yea I like them just wish it would shine an wonder if it's worth the time or just sit back an drink some beers instead

Hahaha.

You have to be careful color sanding gel coats with a fade like you have. (The color blending, not the actual chalking).

Color sanding is time consuming, not really difficult and for the most part fairly inexpensive.

The cost is in the materials and equipment.

Not only that, but you can drink beer while doing it.

At the same time, get a decent work out in.

That known as a two-fer.

I say go for it.

I always felt it was worth the effort.

I have the sand paper an buffer just no compounds guess I need some more beer to figure that one out. thanks gt

Try vinegar (or a vinegar & water solution) on a small area first to see if it takes off some of the chalking.  You'll probably still have to sand and buff/polish. But if a lot of what you see is water deposits, a slightly acidic liquid solution will help get it off prior to hitting it with abrasives.  There's only so much gel there, and I prefer to conserve it, if possible.  Good luck.

Thanks mpkardell I'll give that a try. If that works would u still use a compound on it then wax it?

You'll almost certainly have to compound it, and then wax it.  The vinegar "might" save you some work though.

Try 3m marine restorer, they have it in different grit levels but it's fairly easy to use.

Well I chose to try an wet sand it an figured if I messed it up I'll just paint it I used 800 on the heaviest spots that were left showing after the vinegar solution then 1000 then 1500 then 2000 then buffed it meguiars 105 an put 2 coats of wax zymol wax on an all I can day is wow I didn't think I would ever look that good... unfortunately my phone decided it didn't wanna work anymore so I only have this one pic till I get home in a few days. Then I get to tackle the bottom portion of the boat figure out how to pull the fenders so I can get it all looking this good
