Title: Wet Sanded

Well here is the first step on my wet sanding of the Sanger.  1000 on all of the blue.  Now I just need to run to home depot and grab a hose to wash it down with.  Enjoy!

Looking good so far...  but just a small tip...
The idea behind wet sanding is to run water as you sand...   'just a little' to flush away the paint (paper lasts longer)
But all in all...  dipping the sandpaper or splashing the boat will work too  ;D

She's going to look real good...   ;)

What Rebel said.  Running the water keeps the sanding area clean and extends the life of the paper and lets you see if you have sanded enough to get the surface smooth.  Keep it up and it'll look good!   ;)

Looks like alot of sanding, just did that to my brother's 21' Eliminator last friday.... those big boats are alot of work. What kind of compounds are you going to use to buff it?

Well instead of just letting a hose run over it, I have been using a spray bottle.  It keeps it pretty wet.  Here are some pics after a good hose down! Enjoy.  Some of the spots look like huge scratches but are actually glares.  Excuse the mess on the inside of the boat! :(

LOOKING GOOD

I DID MY UNCLES 18 ELIMINATOR HERE A COUPLE MONTHS BACK. ITS JUST A HULL SO WE FLIPED IT AND SANDED AND BUFFED THE ENTIRE BOTTOM AS WELL AS THE TOP. IT WAS PRETTY FADED SO WE HIT IT WITH 500 FIRST AND THEN 1000 3M PAPER AND BUFFED IT WITH MOTHERS COMPOND FIRST THEN THE MOTHERS ANTI SWIRL POLISH THEN THE CLEANER WAX AND FINALLY THE CARNUBA WAX. TURNED OUT BETTER THAN I WOULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT.

Ok here it is after 2000 grit and washed off.  I am very pleased with how it turned out and now I can't wait to buff it out.

i need to do this to my boat. after the easter weekend dance off on the bow of my boat, the bow is scratched all to hell. anyway i will probably be starting my wet sand project this weekend so keep the tips coming.

That's great. It's lots of work but the results are worth it.
