Sanding balsa floors

Ok, I have gotten one section of floor glassed down. Everything went well and is very solid. I was instructed to lay the balsa with the scrim side up and sand after it's set. What grit paper do you sand the scrim off with and is a 6" da suitable? Should I work my way up in sandpaper grit after the scrim is gone?

ive always done 60 grit, 120 would be fine too. you want some scuffed up surface that the new glass will hold on too.

Ok, I have some 80 here. How many layers of cloth do you use on top?

80 is fine. i would do 2 alternating layers of 10 oz cloth and 2 oz mat. so 2 of the 10 oz and 2 of the 2 oz
