Title: Who here paints boats?
Post by: ka0tyk on December 06, 2013, 03:37:11 PM
I just want a white single stage paintjob top and bottom.  I can do most of the early sanding and a quick primer coat and get it smooth.  I'm looking for someone that can do a 21 footer (ill take the motor and drive/interior out).  What would be a ballpark guesstimate cost?  I have a gun and could do it myself in my garage after I turned it into a killzone scene from dexter with plastic covering everything but I'd rather not, plus then theres no guarantee's that it would not get bugs and stray hairs in it.

Whats wrong with the gel on it now? It appears to be a good looking boat in the pictures

I'm not a HUGE fan of the yellow to be honest and the top originally had woodgrain which was pretty terribly covered up by paint and its chipping and looks like crap.  I spent a lot of time on making everything else nice, the outside just doesnt reflect that same effort...

I would love to do something like this, with either a woodgrain veneer or a carbon fiber on the deck and white on the sides.  This boat below is beeeeeutiful.

ive been doing a few tests here with epoxy over a vinyl wrap vs an epoxy over cloth.  its pretty tough to keep things smooth, especially on a sloped surface, etc.

This was a caliber 1 I saw at Martinez marine interiors last weekend. It had just a small carbon fiber accent piece in the gel. Looked f n bad ass.
