installing swim steps

ok so i bought a pair of teek swim steps and now am tryin to figure out how to mount them.. easy right? well i have a question.. when im looking at the brackets they say 12 deg or 16 deg... so which one do i use???

i've never had a swim step but i think it depends on the angle of your transom. if you didn't choose the right one your step wont be parallel with the water. get a angle finder and put it against the transom to see what you have. iphone probably has an app for that  :D

ooh so it only matters on the water??? i mean my boat sits nose high in the water and it sitts diff on the trailer

Do you have any pics of your boat from the side in the water?  Set them on something up towards were you plan to mount...take a pic an compare.  Mine are mounted bout 1-2 inches off the water and they are even with water when I sit on them. Some will install to be even when boat just sits in water.  I used a floor jack and a level to get my hull level to install square to hull. I also used some 1/4 x 2" aluminum back plates to ensure they are solid as I am bout 240lbs. Post some pics of what you have...boat and steps.
