What do you guys think a safe top speed is for a eliminator hull?
-
I bought this boat 2 years ago, it kind of just fell in my lap. Anyways I was wondering if anyone knows why the title say Eliminator Runabout? A guy I met told me it was a bubble deck. In October at Havasu I had the boat at 80 on gps with three people in the boat including me and it felt solid. I dropped them off and smacked the throttle and I almost peed myself. I don't want to hurt myself or others and was just wondering what your thoughts were. Here's a few pics

I can't answer your question but that really is a good looking boat.

If its a phone gps 9X out of 10 its lying to you. Are you pushing the limits of the boat ........ maybe. just be careful, i would look into a jetaway maybe.
My 92 MPH boat on GPS went 84 on real clocks. :screwy: :screwy: :screwy:

You may want to invest in a life line jacket. Without a lot more info on your set up it would be had to say what's safe. But if your truly hitting those numbers I would think your close.

I installed all Auto Meter gauges with GPS 100 MPH speedometer when I bought it.
-
Thanks 74 SC, I like your boat too. I almost bought one just like yours! But then I fell in love.....

X2 on the lifeline. Also a killswitch would be a good idea too

Never heard of life line but I'm going to look into that. And yes I need a kill switch............like a tether switch right?
-
jimpen not sure what impeller is in the pump, but its a JG I put a 4 degree wedge in it and converted from manual diverter to hydraulic. The motor is a 13:1 454 .30 over 2 bolt main, oval port heads, solid 610/620 lift cam, super victor intake with a 1050 dominator carb. Stock rods, Cast crank and good old TRW pistons.

I see the boat doing 80, but in my opinion and for safety X3 get a life line and figure out whats in the pump, in alot of cases it's not just how fast you can go but how safe you can slow down, a jetaway would be a good investment, especially if you lose power, I have one on my winger, and even with a jetaway you better hang on tight to that steering wheel if you lose power going fast. And I also have a autometer GPS speedo and has anyone ever really tested there accuracy.

Safe at 90 if nothing goes wrong maybe. The problem is when your flying along a 90 and you throw a rod and shit gets crazy quick. Pump has locked up pressure has lifted the back of the boat up and thrown the bow into the water and it's anybody's guess from there. Remember this all happened before you can react to it. Everyone thinks they are fine for me it was a 50cent fuse that blew for RTCP it was a MSD rev limiter I'm not sure what it will be for you. I hear a lot of talk from all including myself l will get that pop off next year but it to much money right now but I will go ahead and get those 4000.00 heads because MPH HP!!!!!! Most of us are guilty but on the other hand most of us do at least run a life line. At the end of the day speed is in our blood and we will push our abilities and boundaries till we win. Have fun in be save and if you feel the need to take a risk make sure it just you that is at risk. If none us took a risk they would all be save.

Its just a matter of time till something happens, for me when I had my little jet it happened to me! luckly I was holding on and no one was in the boat. Scary crap! I own a VDrive cruiser now that I GPS at 86MPH. It handles like a Cadilac but I tell my wife I need to invest in one.It could save my life and yours????? :banghead:

Thanks for all the info guys, I'm having trouble posting pics and I don't think I have any of the pump and I left it in Havasu, I definately need a life line, but my seat is so comfortable with out one! My question about the jetaway is doesn't that bolt on the top of the pump.......the plate that you take off to get rope or whatever you get sucked in the pump?
-
What style of lifeline is best.......was feeling frisky and was going to buy one but there is so many choices! :banghead:
-
My bad lifeline is the style............a few too many keystones

Whst you are talking about is a pop off, a jetaway bolts to the front of the pump. A pop off would be key but takes alot of modification and you would have to set your pump way back. And would be almost pointless on a river boat. Even though I'm looking into getting one lol.

I will say that a pop off is a better safety device than a jet a way. But for you i would go with a jet a way hands down. you dont want to go threw all the mods to get your pop off in.

X2 definitely one of next buys for the winger. Maybe after my $4000 dollar heads lol

Yeah I though the pop off would be a lot of work, especially with the cleanout inside the boat. I'm definately going to look into the jet a away. What does something like that run?

If you can find a used one around 1200 bucks. a new one will run 1800 or more depending on who you get it from. I would hit up B1 racing for one.

Been driving squirt guns all my life just never owned one, but still getting used to it. I was going to put the button on it but I don't want to be building motors for it all the time. And I figure it's fast and reliable.

X2 on waiting on the ponies and buying the safety stuff. Says the bone head that's putting a12:1/2 to one beast together but like everyone says I'll be getting the jet a way and pop off valve next. Good luck with you're boat & have more fun than you can stand!!!
