Post by: East County Kona on April 20, 2014, 10:53:27 PM
Thinking of picking this up because I need another project about as bad as a hole In The head. But I need input is this a legit hull? With decent power will it go quick? Any and all input appreciated!
Thank you gents!

Sleekcraft built a good hull.  Being 35 years old you need to be looking for soft wood in the transom, stringers and floors.

I can't tell from the pic, but it could be an SST which would be a tunnel hull.

Not an SST.... That would be cool if it were though.

So bummed, I was all dialed in on going after this boat. When I got home from work this morning I was given a summons for court. Guess it's on the back burner for now. 💩

I just stumbled on this site and this thread.  I ended up picking up the boat that you guys are talking about.  I've had 2 SST's a few years ago. The first one got stolen, the second was sold not finished to a guy who worked for me.  It appears that this SSV is pretty rare.  I'm wondering if there will be much of a performance difference in that my engine was dyno'd at 485 hp and 525 'lbs at 4800 rpm.  Probably not enough HP to make much of a difference between the SST and SSV.

I had this engine built and dyno'd, set on a stand and shrink wrapped 10 years ago.  I have a new set of Basset Headers still in the box.  A rebuilt berkeley JC with new A impeller and new SS shaft.  Also a polished bell housing I've never used.

Welcome to the madness, that is a hell of an introduction story.  And with pics too.   Seems like you are gonna fit in just fine around here.  I had a friend years ago that had a Sleekcraft tunnel with a healthy 390 Ford.  He still regrets  selling it.  Black with big silver metal flake stripes set off with pink piping.  Great looking boat and fast.  Hope you enjoy your time here.
